  • Hotel Review: Holiday Inn Express Hull City Centre, Hull, East Yorkshire, England - October 2022: • Hotel Review: Holiday ... .
Hey folks, I've made another hotel review for your viewing pleasure. This time I stayed in Hull or as it's full name is Kinston-upon-Hull in East Yorkshire, England. This is my fourth time staying overnight in Hull, previously I have stayed at the Ibis, Wetherspoon, and Premier Inn hotels, this time I chose to stay at The Holiday Inn Express on Ferensway in Hull city centre. The hotel is located a 2 minute walk from Hull railway station, above the St. Stephen's shopping centre.
Entering at street level, it is necessary to take a lift to the reception on the first floor. This is a new and modern building and the reception area lounge is bright and airy. The reception desk is next to the bar and the room has a large open terrace with good views over Ferensway. This room is also the restaurant area where breakfast is taken. The breakfast buffet was very good, bacon, scarmbled eggs, baked beans and oddly meatballs istead of suasages (it was explained to me that this had been an error by the night staff). There was also bread, cereal, fruit juice, yoghurt and some continental options.
My room (714) was on the top floor of the hotel. Upon getting out of the lift on the 7th floor there is a viewing point which is 118 feet above sea level, this gave good views over the city, there were also other windows on the 7th floor giving views over Hull in all directions.
The room I stayed in was a twin room, two of us stayed there on a bed and breakfast basis, which cost a total of £75, a real bargain for Hull city centre. The room was smart and clean with two single beeds, open wardrobe, desk, flat screen LG TV and a varity of room lights. There were no electrical plug sockets near the bed, which was a shame and a mistake in the construction of this hotel, there was also no bedside table at the side of one of the beds, there was a small shared bedsiade shelf between the beds, but this was insufficient. These are minor things, but I need to offer a review that is critical and can aid future improvement.
The bathroom was smart and had a toilet cubicle, shower and sink area. It was all good and functioned as it should do.
The lift / elevators were large and held 13 people, there were easily enough room in them for a wheelchair or pram.
Overall this is was a very good hotel, the location was excellent, the price was good value and the breakfast inclusion a real bonus. Out of all of the hotels that I have stayed in, in Hull city centre, this is the best one so far and I will definitely stay here again in future.
Hope you enjoy the film folks!

Hi ..Thanks for your review of this hotel.Ive stayed twice at the Holiday Inn Express Hull City Centre twice to visit my family and friends who live in Hull and E.Yorkshire.I agree this hotel is very good value for money with breakfast included in the price,The rooms are very nice, and the beds so comfy,so I don't have any problems with the rooms etc.The breakfast eating area was good too,The bar/lounge area was stylishly decorated, but I thought it was to brightly lit,no cosy lighting as such.I stayed here both times in Autumn and winter, and even tho' my room was warm the reception and bar area vey cold! and thats because the reception staff seem to want to keep the door leading to the lifts wedged open as its a very open area which goes down to the ground floor and lets all the cold into the bar area..So one has to sit there with your coat on, instead of been comfortable. Otherwise its a fantastic hotel, and maybe Ill stay there in warmer months next time.

Yes you're right about reception being a bit chilly, maybe they're trying to keep the ir flowing due to covid? Anyway it's still a decent hotel for the money, I'll definitely be returning.

A view of a car park in a hotel room? That's strange. Why not a view of the city

If I was given a room on the other side I would have had a city view, I guess it's a 50/50 thing...
