The best bit of this rehearsal for me was the joy of seeing Shireenah still connected with ballet! I watched avidly the C4 programme “ballet changed my life” all those years ago and was blown away by Shireenah’s performance in Romeo and Juliet. I once bumped into Marion Tait at a theatre and took the opportunity to ask her how her protégés had progressed in their lives, but there was not the time to ask her about each and every one who had taken part in the scheme. How wonderful to learn that the art of ballet had enabled those young people to turn their lives around. Thanks go to Shireenah for mentioning that she was part of that original Ballet Hoo :)
Watched a BRB performance of sleeping beauty last night with Beatrice playing Aurora- at the end of the show Carlos walked on stage and announced that she was promoted to a Principal!! Very emotional moment and extremely well deserved.
Fascinating to watch this rehearsal! Would love to see a video of the actual performance.
