I did know, years ago, a guy with a broad Scottish accent who hailed from Glasgow & his name was Julio McConnell, because his mum was crazy about the famous Spanish singer Julio Englasias, except she had his name spelled on his birth certificate as Hoolio, so people would get the pronunciation right ... This is perfectly true But, theres more! This guy Hoolio's younger brother was christened Guy, but his Mum didn't know the pronunciation & so he was known as Gooey.... Sounds looney tunes but its true. Hoolio only found out the right way to say Guy when he became a nightclub Bouncer & his Boss was called Guy & Hoolio kept calling him Gooey.... His Boss informed him of the right way to say his name. He didn't have the heart to tell his mum or his brother...
