It looks like it's electric, so it's basically a small electric 'coil' stove. I'm amazed at the possible hazards of old toys, but they were so much fun!!! Very cute, as expected of anything Japanese!

O_O the tomatoes had juice...onions looked real, quail egg had yolk/whites, meat patties looked real and almost cooked real. i cant believe they've invented such amazing toys back in the 70's....im blown away.
oh my gosh!!! my grandma had a green version of this that i used to play with when ever she would babysit me! ...Then one day i went over there and it was gone :'( I loved that little stove..... & it was so sad because piece by piece it would disappear (a little piece of me died every time this happened) &then finally one day it was just gone, it was easily one of the most sad and dramatic days out of my 3yr old life...
In Japan you get real miniature cooking toys that uses real heating element and real food. In North America you get stale cake-flavored powder in a bag mixed with water and cooked with a light bulb. JAPAN FTW!
