Been here 7 years, met my fiance. Naa miy anak nga babaye. I can say I've adapted to the Kinabuhi sa Pilipinas. I actually have to go back to the west this year for some time ug wala ko nalipay niini. I truly like the simple life, epecially the people and the province, including all the noise. Godbless Pilipinas ❤

Entitled to the highest level.. epic! When you're in another house don't set your own rules.. you must be the one who needs to adjust!

I'm an American here, and left, largely to get away from the politics and other divisions in my country. First, I'm not fond of most conservatives and even some so-called liberals, and choose my foreigner friends very carefully. It's better to be alone, rather than chew on bad apples. Mostly, I'm satisfied with my life in the Philippines. I've been reminded that we, as foreigners, are guests, but we are also PAYING guests, not freeloaders, and do contribute to the local economies. Many Americans here, generally speaking (if you observes comments in the vlogs) love to rub their higher incomes in others' faces, telling other expats that they are only surviving, while they (imagine a puffed out chest) are thriving. I have to laugh sometimes, when they tell us later how they are being fleeced by single mothers and their extended families, which creates an entitlement attitude and double standard when it comes to many of the ladies here (simps should stay home!), but that is another matter. Most Filipinos are smarter than that.
Now is the Philippines perfect? Not by a long shot, and I do believe the culture can and should do better: at least try harder to eliminate corruption, crab mentality, begging, scamming, and/or leeching off others. Learn to work harder and SAVE. If you are a parent of an OFW worker, use the money she sends you to invest in a brighter future, rather than just squander it. People working together can move mountains and work miracles. Finally, before moving/retiring to the Philippines, my advice is to come and live here several months before committing. Ditto, for committing to a single partner. To do otherwise, is simply foolish and reckless.

I guess he is just telling the truth. Let him be. Coz we Filipinos prefer to occupy our lands far more wider than Foreigners. We don't want our lands to be infested with Foreigners who will only grab lands and occupy business spaces in the area. This is our land. Therefore we expect to own it more than the Foreigners. But if a foreigner can withstand these realities of the Philippines, the better! 💖👍🌻

I am an American retired early in Cebu for a year and a half in Mandaue City in the Cebu metro area. I would disagree with some of this man's statements, but his assessment of the Philippines is certainly accurate for some less urban areas. I think he is trying to help other foreigners who are not aware of the issues he spoke about. It isn't entitlement to say "I don't like this this and this about the Philippines" . Change will never occur if no one never complains or raises these issues. You are letting the concept of bayanihan bias your perception of this foreigner. I think bayanihan influences Filipinos to avoid complaining about most issues because of fear of offending someone. Americans just don't always think that way. I think many of these issues this man complains about could be solved by moving to a different area of the Philippines, maybe Baguio. When I go down the list of his complaints, I find that I do not have to deal with most of these issues here in Mandaue City. I am from the cold, Northern state of Maine, and I do find it hot, but there is this thing called aircon which does exist. I would rather live here in the heat than deal with ice and snow of Maine. It is a nice feeling to know that I will never have to shovel snow, or scrape the ice off my windshield again. My viewpoint may be different than his because I cut all ties in America when I left. I sold, gave away, or threw away everything I owned in America. I got my worldly possessions down to two large suitcases and a backpack. My family is all deceased except for one brother and two nephews, I am divorced, and I have no children. I have nothing to return to in America, I truly can't go home. So my mindset is that I have to make my life work for me here in Cebu. If I go back to America, I have to give up everything I have achieved here in Cebu and start from zero again in America just like I started here in Cebu. I also don't want to try to reenter the American job market in my mid-fifties, because my small pension is not enough to live on in America. It is really all about mindset and attitude. My mindset is to make things work here in Cebu, whatever it takes.

Well, well if you don't like it get out. You must adopt our culture if you live in our country. We are happy people despite of poverty. I have lived in the USA over 40 YEARS and have adopted quietness here but do not have any issues about any of that. You are just spoiled in your country and never understand how we get by in our day to day life by simply singing karaoke, laughing taking care of our animals and pets instead of focusing on minor things. Internet? We're happy we have them even if it is interrupted. Infrastructure? Yes we lack because Philippines isn't as rich as America. I have a lot to say but I'll stop here. After my 30+ trips to Maganda Pilipinas I have found that Koreans and Malaysians seem to be the ones that seem to have the feelings of 'entitlement'
My opinion only. From what I have observed myself)

Why would you expect much from the government when taxes are not high? Why would you compare the Philippines to the West?! That is just stupid.

He sounds like didn't get the best of where he was at. My internet speed is more than 400mbps and we don't even need this kind of speed. The Philippines is a young, developing country and we have a very large population, so what do you expect? Our enfrastracture is actually good because of the Earthquakes here. He's just uneducated that's it.

Thanks for your reaction. I guess he moved to the Philippines because he thought it’s cheaper to live there, but without considering the other factors. He is describing his neighborhood but the way he talked about it - It sounded like he’s implying it’s the entire Philippines. Maybe he should move to BGC

he is right...and what now? that is why countries are formed for we have different ways of living and spending this fleeting time we have on earth...if you don't like it here then yeah this is not the place for you...and who can say what really is good in life when you see even america is more in trouble than the philippines right now...we are not perfect in the same way as others are...what we have is other don't have...what we have are things other nations some are longing for...let us not make a big deal out of it and in the process put down the filipino people...coz we also don't like many of us with each other here...but it doesn't mean some cultures are better...

American culture is far from being perfect. We are more divided there (for a lot of stupid reasons) that most other Western countries. I'm happy, as a whole, to be in the Philippines, and wish there were a better caliber of foreigners here representing my country.

5:21 The internet services, or any public utility services in that matter is just bad and has nothing to do with Geographical reasons. It is a known fact that Public utilities are private owned and not under the control of the Philippine Government. Even mobile Telco giant Globe's majority shares is not owned by a PH company but by Singtel (Singaporean). Ph has some of the worst services and yet has one of the most expensive services in Asia.
15:45 You don't know what he is talking about? If you're a foreigner, chances are you are renting a condo or an apartment. I am not sure in the Provinces but in Manila, a decent studio condo unit is at least $300 minimum, not including the utilities yet. Plus you have to consider groceries or eating out. If you're single even in Manila, that is good enough but the man is talking about someone who had 2 kids with a Filipina so $1000 is considered "Tight" budget in this case.
18:07 Agree. Most foreigners who come to the Philippines to hook up normally connect with uneducated, low wage earning Filipinas. On the contrary, a typical highly educated Filipina with a good career is not interested in foreign men in General. Doors are not necessarily closed, but foreign guys really have to work for it. Typical City girl with these traits look for more cultured, well educated men.

I live in the province particularly in Mindanao and black outs only happen when there's a fire or some electrical fixing which probably lasts an hour or half day which is mostly scheduled during Sunday. This man complained about even the weather making me laugh.😂😂😂 Of course it's hotter than snowy US we are in tropical area where sun comes out every day of the year.😂

Seems like you took a decent video from a guy speaking to foreigners about the situation they will experience if they move to the Philippines and turned it into an attack, saying he's "entitled". His video sounded pretty accurate and is relevant to westerners considering moving there. It gives a good idea of what to expect. He didn't mention other issues like pollution, "skin tax", scammers & thieves, long wait lines for everything, or low tech society that requires physical cash for most transactions (and the fees associated with having to constantly draw out cash). And more! Instead of bashing this guy you should be thanking him, because he is offering needed information for those who want to live there. The Philippines is not for everyone. The differences between life there and "back home" may be too much for some people. So putting out this information might save them from moving there and being another miserable complaining foreigner, which is good for everyone.

To all foerigners who do not like noisy place, please go to the north where the people are quieter, cleaner, conservatives and decent. The south is wilder and noisier because they like party, party, cockfight gambling, karaoke. So, go to Baguio, Ilocos Sur Ilocos Norte, and specially Batanes where the most honest people you can find in the Philippines.
