We have been married for over 30 years and sometimes just for fun I will lovingly grab his hands in the middle of a conversation and he suddenly starts to stutter or become mute until I let go and he can start gesturing again. It’s not a must to respect the rules for food, for example cappuccino, you can drink whatever you want. if you go in a bakery or bar and they have it you can order and drink . Then Italians don’t care about others generally, we have not (jantejagen) jante law. Then for lunch you can eat salad and second dish or only first. In my home we don’t eat for example desert in Sunday too. We don’t drink wine since many years. For speaking out loud it’s really thrue especially in the south, I know something it’s annoying, while speaking softly is seen suspicious it seems people is planning something illegal or someone is sick or died. Than for gesture we can say it’s just a stereotype.
