Nice Dr. Daniel! Netting on a kayak is no joke! Something I learned watching Die Hard is that it's easier to net a fish like that when you're moving a little so it flattens the fish out and you can guide him in... but, you got'em!

Yo Daniel! Congrats on the yak, mini boat, skiff, or whatever you guys call it and getting a nice keeper on your maiden voyage! Just a suggestion, I find it way easier to land a Hali when you keep trolling. You could slow down, but just keep moving. That way when you bring them up they come up flat. Way easier to net or gaff them at that point. See you out there! 👊

Nice catch! It would be great to hear at least a little about your dissertation research. I appreciate the science that you include in your videos, but I'm always wishing that there was a little more. I think it would distinguish your channel more from the typical fishing channels. Does your kayak come with storage for a back up battery. Sometimes i can get fishing and don't realize how much power is left or have to leave earlier than i want due to low battery. I think you should also add to your emergency gear a solar powered battery maintainer/charger. They have them for about $30 at Walmart where I live, Never know. I once ran out of power and had to be towed in by a fellow boater in my intex raft so ever since i bring back up. Beautiful Catch :) i totally want one of those Kayaks
