Thank you for sharing your adventure on the trail. Little bear seems so highly evolved as a young girl, I'm sure in large part because Mama bear is an awesome role model. The world needs more folks like you both.
The Blue Ridge Parkway was built by the CCC during the Great Depression and German POWs during WWII. There is an interesting Inn at the Peaks of Otter.
So many wonderful views today! Very interesting to learn that there was an original AT trail and the current one you are on. Both look very beautiful ❤i love how LB is determined to not take any easy routes on the trail ❤ So very sorry to hear about your friend. Such a terrible tragedy 🙏🏻
The views from The Blue Ridge Parkway were so beautiful. I love that you and LB help the critters across the trail. 😊 My sincere condolences to your friend. She and all of her family will be in my thoughts and prayers. 🙏 Take care and rest well bears, so proud of you both. 👏 ✌️
Wow, I can't believe it, but at the time of this filming, you have walked from GA to my backyard! The Parkway is one of my favorite roads and that means you are probably at, or past, another favorite road, Skyline Drive. And that's quite an accomplishment, in my book!
Praying for your friend. I know from personal experience how hard it is to lose your spouse. Prayers were critical in helping me deal with the loss! Thanks for sharing! God bless!
Yes! 😊 She absolutely does, as she should. It doesn’t seem fair if only I drove the walk. She stops for much longer when she wants to, and is compassionate when she sees I want to linger at a particular spot. Some days, we have to urge each other along from lingering too long, lol!
Most kids would complain at some point or want to quit she's so mature and seems to be driven by her goal of going north. Bless you both. Safe travels and many prayers going your way ..
In 2012 my wife of 38 years was killed in a car accident right below our house and I came home from working at church early and found it. Ten days later, my now wife’s husband of 38 years died of a heart attack. So we both are too familiar with sudden tragic loss!! On a lighter note, I love the Blue Ridge Parkway. Have driven the entire 469 mile length 4 times. And I have stayed at the Peaks of Otter facilities 2 different times. It is a beautiful area. Hike On and be safe and we are praying for your friend and family!!
I knew when Little Bear was dancing and Mama Bear had an analytical look, then something was up. Nothing wrong with taking a couple days off in Roanoke. I am sensing that since it seems rather easy for Little Bear, that monotony is settling in. Tell her that there are great challenges ahead and she will have to be on her A game on rock cliffs and swift river crossings. She will be great with her keen eyesight to spot things and your analytical skills and motherly instincts!! Hike On and be safe!!
I now see the conversation you 2 were probably having at the end of the video. Dont worry, You didnt let anyone down, you 2 were a joy to watch. And you made it 1/3 of the way. Thats a lot to be proud of. And quite the adventure, that you 2 will forever hold in your hearts. I bet youre so glad to be back home with family. And remember, you have a full year to complete the thru hike, if you still desire! The idea of a flipflop would sound nice to be, to avoid the hotter weather in the south in the summer months. ❤ Will continue following your channel and look forward to new content.
Another great video, as yours always are. This one is especially meaningful though, because of the Blue Ridge Parkway. Over the years my husband and I drove it two times in its entirety, and once from Virginia south to its end in Cherokee NC. I have stopped at each one of those scenic overlooks, and read all the descriptive signboards. We stayed at Peaks of Otter. The trips up and down the Parkway are the most memorable travels we had during our life together. I know I'll never go again, but I unexpectedly experienced a part of it during your video today. I must confess I teared up when I started reading the Peaks of Otter signboard and the memories came rushing back. I might already be praying for your friend, if her husband is one of the two deaths Ramdino announced on his channel. Thank you for sharing your adventure with us. God bless you with peace and protection as you head toward Katahdin. G’nite Elle!
Thank you for sharing such beautiful views today! Prayers continue for you two as well as for your friend who experienced such a great loss. Death has a way of reminding us all how important it is for us to live life to the fullest…which the two of you are definitely doing! Godspeed!
Prayers 🙏🏼for the hiker friend, and all the families dealing with their loss! It’s very hard to say anything that can help with such pain! All we can hope is that GODs blessing reaches their hearts and fills them serenity! ❤
So very sorry to hear about your friend passing. Condolences to their family. On a brighter note, the views were amazing..off of the Blue 💙 Ridge Pkwy. The wildlife sightings are always a pleasant surprise, especially the orange 🧡 salamanders. Stay safe 🙏
Prayers for the loved ones. Those we love are never lost, it is their physical presence we miss, but as long as one person remembers, stories, laughter and love can be shared. ❤. Gail
Praying for your friend and her family. 🙏 I've been driving I81 through Virginia for years and had never driven on the Blue Ridge Parkway until this week. I've been watching hiker's videos and decided to drive a section on my way to my daughter's house. So beautiful!! I need my husband to drive it next time so I can look at all the beautiful views!! 😁
Sorry to hear about friend passing. Ramido posted on his weekly update on June 9 that two hiker passed epic and twinkle toes. Prayer for both their family. Also love view from skyline drive think you made good choice because you get some shade. Highlight also view and shower.
Glad that you missed another possible storm for you hike this day and that the wings, ice cream, and showers were all waiting at camp. Cannot imagine the grief of your friend and her son during this time. Prayed for them both 🤍
So sorry to hear about your friends husband! She and her family are in my prayers 🙏 the views today were very pretty. Thanks for sharing! You both are doing great! Rest up & hike on!! 🐻🐻😊😂🙏🏕️🥾👍😊
Glad to see you two putting some margin into your thru hike. Taking time out for yourselves is so important. Hiking the trail is a get away adventure that is also full of plenty to plan and do. I truly enjoy the nurturing tone shared through your videos. Thank you for all your hard work in sharing.
Thank you for letting us know of the need for your friend. I will be praying for God to grant comfort and strength to her and her son as they grieve. Much love to you, from Texas! ❤
Great views!!!!!! 15 miles!!!! You're doing so good! Praying for your friend. What a loss. Keep eating lots of calories. And as always, thanks for sharing your journey!
My sincere condolences to your friend. 🙏 The Blue Ridge Parkway is a beautiful drive too. I haven’t driven all of it, but most of it thru NC and some of Virginia, when I lived in NC. It looks like a beautiful hike too. Even with the PUDS. 😊
Praying for your friend, the loss of a spouse and parent is tuff. Loved this video and for the first time starting with your Day 77 I watch your posting on my big flat screen tv. It was a totally different experience than off my apple cell phone. It was like I was right there with you. You should recommend it to your followers and your family back home if they are not already. The Blue Ridge Parkway is a jewel with so many beautiful views. ❤😊
Beautiful area and views! ❤ I'm really enjoying your videos. Happy Trails! Be careful, stay safe and enjoy your Hike. 🚶 🏕 🍳 🔥 😊 🙏 Sorry to hear about your friends husband. Sending prayers for your friend and family. 🙏
If only all those campsites had a shower I may be tempted to join you!😂. Prayers for you girls and those you meet and have met along the way. Keep letting those lights shine.
Yes really enjoy the Blue Ridge Parkway tons of beautiful views and hiking trails. It starts near Cherokee NC and ends in VA or vise versa depending where you start.
Those little lizards remind me of the fire creature in Frozen, one of my favourite films. Very sorry to hear about your friend’s loss and have sent love to her. It’s awesome how you two are taking these bigger distances in your stride (pun intended). Hope you have a lovely rest. Love and hugs. R ❤❤
🚶♀️🐻👟👟🚶♂️🐻🐈👟👟⛺🌞 I just love the Blue ridge parkway I go up there all the time in 2020 during the pandemic I had the whole parkway to myself the rock wall is really neat you both stay safe and happy hiking love and Life to you both in special thanks to your husband for his services and goodnight Ellie 🐈😺
Good news for the team. Apple just announced satellite communication for texting. Should be available to you in July. You will be able to connect with family at any point on the trail. Yay!
Hey Bears, so sorry about the death of your friend's husband. Have said a prayer for her and her son. Great views today. Am glad you chose the PUDS over the road. I'm afraid the road would have been much hotter. Good to see Ellie and to be able to wish her goodnight. Ya'll are really making good progress. You will probably see more of the efts as you continue north - especially after rainy days. Looked like a neat campground with lots of amenities. Ya'll take care. Stay safe. See you tomorrow.
Another awesome video! Jesus said, "Our friend sleepeth." May Almighty God comfort their family in the tough days and weeks ahead. In the name of our precious Lord and Savior, we pray, Amen! May God continue to keep and bless and guide you both, too.
Just got back from camping and our site was completely compacted ground and could only get 1 tent stake in the ground. Luckily there was enough in the tent to keep it weighted down 😂
Matthew 5:4 for our hiker friend. I've driven the parkway a long time ago it was beautiful lots of stops to absorb. Had a great time. You did good miles today 🌲👏
I know you'll be hitting PA soon, so just a heads up, it's supposed to start getting REALLY hot here by June 15th and Tuesday, June 18th is supposed to be a broiler of a day. So be safe you two!!
I stopped the Video and prayed for your Friend and Family right when you revealed the Tragic news, and I also prayed for you and Little bear. I'm glad you both are getting some down time it's much deserved :)
Another great video. I would like to mention that picking up and touching newts can be very dangerous for them. Their skin absorbs anything it touches very easily, so if you have any bacteria, artificial foods, or even sanitizer on your hands, it could be deadly to them. Just wanted to let that be know. Happy trails, and I love your journey.
Thank you for sharing that with us. 🙏🏼 We didn’t know and now will not handle them anymore. We would hate to hurt anything. Thank you for educating us. We appreciate you. 💙
lol, yes, but in Florida, we’re not climbing mountains and thousands of feet of elevation with 30lb packs. 😂 So, given those conditions, 79 is HOT 🥵! And believe it or not, the humidity has been very similar, too.
May the grace of God shower your friend and her family with all the love in this most trying time. With life comes death, but we welcome our spiritual life with God in heaven. I personally have witnessed many deaths as a critical care respiratory therapist, and I always tried to do my best to console those families affected. To your friend and family; I am so sorry for your loss but spiritually they will always be with you.
"I LOVE THE VIEWS AND WATER" I DO NOT SEE THOSE RED LIZARDS IN FL. ICE CREAM ALWAYS PUTS A SMILE ON A FACE. WE WILL PRAY FOR PEACE AND COMFORT FOR YOUR FRIEND. DEER.😊

Hi Mama Bear, just wondering and praying that your new shoes are holding up and keeping your feet as comfortable as possible. Also, can you tell me what HOKA shoe you have been wearing? I wear HOKA Bonnie 8’s. I am walking much more these days and some days feel like I am wearing the wrong shoe. I figure if you can be comfortable walking the AT, I should be comfortable as well.
I have to admit I "handled" a mosquito tonight that tried to drink my blood, not sure if that falls within your definition of "please don't touch wildlife". I just think it's cute that LB removes small critters like slugs and efts from the trail to keep them from being crushed by other hikers. PS they didn't touch the fawn in an earlier video, so the way how they handle wildlife looks pretty good to me.

How many calories 😊do you burn and consume in a day on the trail?
@@swreames1think MB said she is burning 3300-3600 daily. She is eating much better now she has her trail hunger. Probably about even now.

Why did the sign say the A/T is the longest marked footpath in the world? The PCT & CDT are longer. Loved the video. Thank you...

I’m not sure about this one in particular. From what I hear, it’s a lot easier to walk than the trail.
How did you determine your resupply boxes? Once a month is what I thought depending on how many town resupplys are made. Just trying to get an idea.
Apologies to shellynoble4298 - Somehow, my comment to the bears landed as a reply to your own comment.

Pray that your friends are filled with God's immeasurable love and joy during this time. - what do you use to film your journey ?
The old A.T. was on the ridge with the views and they built the road ON the A.T. and moved the trail off the ridge and gave the cars the view instead of the trail having the views.
The road is easier walking, but you are exposed to the sun the entire time.

I have and love Hoka Soeedgoats! The Topo’s are ok, but I still prefer the Speedgoats.
How many miles a day are y’all averaging?
About 14
I am not Christian, but ill still send a prayer up!
Thank you so much! 💙
How are the new shoes
They are fine. I prefer the Hoka’s though.
A bit safer within the trees. Go choice Mama Bear.
Praying peace, strength and hope for your friend who lost her husband and for their son, in Jesus' Name.😊

According to Hang Loose, the little red salamanders should not be handled they may emit a harmful substance.
No wild life should be handled. Why intentionally stress out a living creature. They should be left alone
@@Tru_G.R.I.T BS, You live on this planet, do you have any idea how you stress out living creatures (un)intentionally on a daily base?
How are your new shoes feeling? I think it was a few videos ago you mentioned new shoes. My apologies if I am wrong. Cheers, Scar
You’re right. I had to get Topos because the outfitter didn’t have Hoka’s. They are ok. I do prefer the Speedgoats though.
@@wildflowersadventures Thank you for the feedback. I hiked in the speedgoat 5s and loved them.
Hi guys, love watching you two but you need microphones I can't make out what you are saying sometimes. You speak softly.
Al
Use closed captioning. I’m able to hear them but sometimes turn on closed captioning.
Sorry but she cant be a purist if you guys didnt even start the trail at the right place. Please don't handle wikdlife too.
We started at Springer…the official start of the AT.
Little children are usually very gentle with animals. Picking up a newt, frog or toad is a natural thing for kids.
I have to admit I "handled" a mosquito tonight that tried to drink my blood, not sure if that falls within your definition of "please don't touch wildlife". I just think it's cute that LB removes small critters like slugs and efts from the trail to keep them from being crushed by other hikers. the "right place" to start the AT is at the southern terminus which is Springer mtn. 😎
