Morning, Richy! While some probably won't enjoy this vlog, I found it really interesting. Lots of history, and great that they display all of that at the station. Such a history, and we only ever consider the current day, so it's great to see the development and what once was a long time ago. The bus service doesn't look like it has changed since '66 though 🤔 I wonder when the public changed from using personal cars, to motorbikes and tuk-tuks? Thanks for taking the time to film and share this, Richy!
Hi Greg, I was doubting putting this out but like you said some people like us will find it really interesting. I’m not sure when they switched to bikes etc, presumably as the city grew it makes sense to get about easier. Thanks mate.
The story of Darlington’s association with trains dates back to the early 19th century when George Stephenson, a local engineer and inventor, designed the world’s first practical steam locomotive.
Thanks for Sharing this beautiful video of Bangkoks very Coordinated Transportation system, Richy. Now, We have a better understanding of the Ways to Get About!! Enjoyed Watching.
Hi Richy hats off to you for your budgeting I’ve been here 4 days and spent a small fortune like every trip when o come I’m heading tk the Philippines today for the weekend for my birthday and spraying at the admiral hotel in Manila as got a free night stay for bad service in a 5 star hotel at Christmas
Richy I forgot to mention. You spoke a couple of videos ago, you wanted to go to Ped Marks. That is open again. Certainly no renovations to the restaurant. They are doing stuff around the back. BUT... he has a burger restaurant on soi 28. Not sure anyone has ever done a video there.
I worked on some of the fan ventilation system for MRT at the Rachadadispisek section 1n 2001. Amazing depths were reached considering Bangkok is only a couple of feet above water level!
@@ParkinsonRaw yea mate I can’t wait I signed a lease on a place last time I was there nice and cheap and quite in a locals area though I have already met my neighbour 😂😂
Good day Richy. Hope you are well. Just wanted to know whether you are now fluent in Thai. Is there a Software where we can translate easily? I am Burmese born but English fluent. How easy is it to read Thai language? Visiting Bangkok soon. Cheers
not the main station ,but the station in Bangkok for us older farrang re the comment below ,I've been here over 20 years and still speak pigeon Thai ,not the easiest lingo to grasp
Do you really think the MRT system is better than the London underground? 272 stations compared with 20 or 30 on the MRT Plus, the newly built QE2 line, that alone has 42 stops on it. I don't understand bigging up something that is nowhere near as good as what is up against it. Plus the underground is well over 100 years old compared to 20 for the MRT. The underground is one of the best systems in the world. Far superior to the Bangkok transport system in total.
London's systems were dug underground in a soft clay chalk earth mixture. The MRT was built overground in the midst of one of the most busiest and bustling cities in the world! Plus MRT had to negotiate all the klongs! London --only the Thames--digging through clay was quite safe and easy!
Its interesting to see different things in other countries 😊
Thanks June😊

Thanks mate.
i live just up the road from were George Stephenson's Rocket was first tested in Rainhill Merseyside
Yes he built the Locomotive No1 in Darlington early 1800 then five years later the Liverpool to Manchester.

Thanks mate, it is so easy to spend here. I hope you have a better stay in Manila and a cracking birthday.

And you said it was built above ground, in reply to my comment.
It is really good, I learned a lot walking through the different stages.
Thanks!
Thank you very much Andrew.
Russ Abbott's Trains of South East Asia beats the crap out anything Michael Portillo's ever done in a Salmon Pink blazer and lemon chinos.
Go Ritchie!
Thanks mate I’ll check that out🙏🏻
Great video! I'm like you, my friend, I love anything history. And I learned a lot today. I hope you're feeling very well now 🤞🙏

Hi mate, unfortunately I only know a little bit of Thai. I use google translate a lot and try and learn from that.

You’re right Ian it is a difficult language especially reading it. I wasn’t sure if Hua Lamphong was the old main station.
Great video. I always thought it was Prince Lorenz
Thanks Brian, I knew very little until I found this.

I’ve always thought they were similar apart from the price to be honest Tim, very cheap and you can be anywhere in the city within an hour.

@senianns9522 are you off your meds ? The MRT is the Bangkok underground system. Did they built it above ground and then bury it ?
@@ParkinsonRawget maps of the 2 and compare. One is like a lego set compared to the other.
A history buff should know this.
@@senianns9522p.s. it's not hard to divert traffic. That is being done worldwide. Because it is a darn sight easier than tunneling underground.
I heard dentists are cheap in Thailand!! 😉
They are very cheap, and good👍🏻
Thanks!
Thank you very much Jack.
