I don't think anyone really clipped that much of the 2019 cup. It is amazing to think the 1st one was 5 years ago now. It has only grown bigger since Towa took over. Since the stream ended yesterday, 1.4m watched it. The cup is now the longest running and most popular Holo event still going. And we have Miko to thank in starting it all those years ago.
If anyone is interested, some clipper called Nekomimi Zebra actually made a series called Suichan: Kart to Survive. It showcases Suisei's Mario Kart story from 2019-2021. It is well edited too, so check it out.
Suisei, Marine and Mio were the top three in the Noob Cup of the first tournament. Last year, they were the top three of the Strong Cup. This little fact puts a huge smile on my face~
Suisei won the year after, and Marine got top 3 as well. Mio unfortunaly got disconnected. They became stronger in the second cup, but really get high level on the third one (the one Okayu won). Already 5 cup behind us. To me cup 3 and 5 were really great (intense, lot of unknown parameter, and Holomem really giving more to it than we would have first expected). Even though in both, Suichan lost her title.
Many people haven't seen the first 2019 cup. But Aqua was on a totally different level from everyone else. Her drifting and shortcuts were nearly at the level of the best time attack racers. Also the podium was very emotional - she had practiced many many hours - imagine the effort she put into Apex but she did it for Mario Kart.
😂 miko came up with the noob cup my God and it is funny seeing the turnaround for the people who are at the bottom it's like they went through a training arc in order to be the best.
And to think, it was only in late 2018 that Nintendo finally woke up and allowed streams/videos with their games to be monetized on RUclips in the first place.
The one on 2019 seems to be when they had just enough people to join in for a tournament. Basically now we have those that are in the "safe zone" which is the ones that aren't in the Tsuyo Cup or the Zako Cup, but looking at the list of the members on 2019, I think they barely had enough to fill in for both categories, so there's probably no "safe zone" at that time; if you lose you're in Zako and if you win you're in Tsuyo. I only managed to watch the 2019 highlights video on the main channel. Too bad it got purged, I kinda want to watch it again. This tournament is definitely a pretty big event, to the point that Nintendo seem to have provided them real official merchandise for the winners. That really surprised me when A chan revealed the goodie bags for the winners, but somehow there's no clips on that part on my suggestions so far.
From what I remember, Suisei had JUST started playing the game like a week or a month before the tournament. It was a long time ago, though, so I might have remembered wrong.
And now Roboco got thrown in zako cup. The improvement is crazy because Suisei is probably the only one who has reached rank 1 in both Zako cup and Tsuyo cup
Shion is actually quite good at Mario Kart. As other commenters mentioned, she’s around Subaru’s level (I’d even say slightly above Subaru, but around the same), from the previous collab streams (Yuru Holo Kart etc.). Marine also described her as “surprisingly strong” in that collab. Definitely Tsuyo Cup level. As previous commenters describe, Shion never participated in any Mario Kart cups. She attempted to join twice (thus the inclusion of her icons), but got sick and didn’t join on the day of tournament in both instances.
0:00 Would be nice if they did Mario Kart - Minecraft collab event, They'll do the betting system in MC with tickets at diamonds (for non-racing participants), then they'll bet for the MK Cup, much like they did for the horse racing in MC summer fest, lol
Look at Choco Senei and Noel because they can't even drift lmao. They were literaly bottom of the Zako Cup last year. But now they did awesome! Really a good development for those 2.
I still remember watching that first tourney, and how truly frustrated Sui-chan was at not being able to make it to Tsuyo-hai, to anyone who watched 2020's tourney, it was the equivalent to how Watame felt. It was awesome watching her redeem herself by besting Aqua by 1 pt in 2020 (ironically the final race was on Grown up Baby Park 😂 it almost cost the tourney as Sui-chan got RNG'd at the end pretty hard, dropping from basically 5th to 8th, Aqua just barely placed 4th, where Fubuki edged her out just ever so slightly, which ended up causing Aqua to lose out on the comeback by 1 pt, that year was crazy ngl) but the most surprising thing to spot on the 2019 leaderboard, is that Choco wasn't at the bottom, which is honestly a testament to how much everyon- err, almost everyone has grown 😅
There was no tourney in 2020. AquSui showdown was in 2021. 2019 Choco-sensei was in bottom, tied with Aki and Haato with 13 points. The VOD is still in Miko channel, and the summary is in A-chan's past tweet
Well, it does seem Mario Kart is a tricky race game to get good in. While it seemed a number of participants didn't do so well, its difficult to say if you can match that.

I think the vod got killed in the purge as well.
@@NotASummoner that's why archiving is a good idea.
miko is a visionary... she started 2 events that became really big and almost became a tradition of hololive... sadly burn out is a thing

While it is the longest running, the Holo Sports Fest is still the most popular and most watched Holo event.

Wow! That’s amazing! So proud of them 😭❤❤❤

A prediction stream sounds pretty nice, we really need the "Nah I'd win" before the actual tournament
Man, imagine if all of hololive members (EN, ID, JP) joined. That way, we can really tell who's on Zako and Tsuyo cup.
This shows how far Marine and Suisei's skills have grown in Mario Kart. Anyone can succeed if they put in time and effort to train themselves
Can't forget Mio there. She tied for 2nd with Marine last year and was with them in Zako Cup

Such a sport genre shonen manga plot.

4:14 Huh, looks like Shion was the Zako Queen, while Choco-sen is all the way at 4th from last.
says shion was absent; aki was zako queen then. watching her this year, I think her growth arc is gonna start soon
Shion is actually good despite her consistent absence. If you notice from her very few MK collab stream she is nowhere near a zako
@@tigeryo8943 first year was 3-way tie to zako queen (Choco Haato Aki)
@@user-bc1jz3md5xV Yeah Shion is around Subaru's level.

a very long and interesting history of hololive mario kart tournaments.
Gambling and miko is always a treat to watch.

People get confused thinking Shion was the last, but she just couldn't play and ended last as DNF.

Neko Neko Finyance 2: Electric Boogaloo
I was thinking about the gambling thing too the other day... Shall we set a website up for the next Cup?
