    The general strategy versus donk bets is raise when you have air and call when you have value. Essentially they're just fishing for information, so give them what they want to find out. Make them think you have them beat when you don't, and make them think you're weak when you aren't. Donk bets are almost always nothing more than bottom to middle pair

    I think if you keep only learning from these super-special spots that usually end up being 1%'ers you actually don't learn that much. It's not about winning these special hands once in tough situations, but winning most of them over a lot of hands. Seems like it's a 50/50 if they have the nuts or are bluffing, and there's only so much that is useful with studying these types of spots.

    love the analysis and I think it was quite accurate. I think tough that KK through 99 are better called than AA because of A5 and A4 but having the As is good because you don't block the gut shut back door draw with A5 and A4 but let's say with Ad and Ah or Ac I would have fold unless I know vilain it way out of line

    LAG isn't a good strategy in higher stakes against opponents of somewhat equal skill. But at lower stakes against less skilled players (especially those that might be scared of big pots, and might be especially scared of a big $700 bet on the river and fold almost everything), LAG can be an effective strategy.

    Is there any difference between a flop xr, bet, bet line from the BB as opposed to the line he took? I'm not a fan of donk bets, but, I don't actually mind it in this case from V. I mean, considering it's 5 ways, this might get checked around a TON otf, and the BB had a huge range advantage imo.

  • @calfan8838
    @calfan8838 Год назад

    I don’t know that it’s obvious Hero only has an overpair on the turn. I think Broadway diamonds definitely calls the donk bet on the flop, and I’d call the turn if I had diamond suited over cards picking up a flush draw. Having an overpair is definitely likely, but if I were in Villain’s situation here, I’d probably fire a river bet to prevent losing to an unpaired over card.

  • @scottt7456
    @scottt7456 Год назад

    I feel like villain having overpairs makes sense also. He can totally have 99+ here, especially if he is not a 3 better.
    To that end, his line sucks so hard for having a 3 or boating the 8, so is a river shove ever reasonable to target those pocket 10 type hands?

    • @calebrandal8915

    Stopped at 10:00. I call the river bet and do not raise. A raise will only be called by a better hand.
    Foe could have anything from an over pair to just a bluff. Yes, a 2 or a 3 will be here sometimes, but 4x5x will be here a ton, plus the crazy aggro hands you'll see from a LAG at low stakes.
    Often these players will simply bet three streets because they think so many people will fold.
