People somewhat misunderstood what he's saying. He's not saying judo is necessarily better than wrestling but that the skill and talent pool is better because it's become such a prominent Olympic art. The same way karate and BJJ went all over the world, so did judo and like wrestling it's rough and scrappy grappling. So in the Olympics you only get the best of the best in judo and because so many countries compete in it, it's really only the best of the best of the best at the top.
@@aitemirmelisov9748 I'll answer instead:-) I don't know most useful or not, can just retell my father's anecdotal experiences. My step father in the 80's and 90's was a competing judo practitioner, and many a time he had to defend himself on the streets (criminality level was crazy high back then here), and by his words he never had any difficulties even against competing local boxers. He used pretty much pure judo in those fights. Just a one man's story, I bet it's not what you use but how you use it, implementing the skill set you have wisely knowing its strengths and weaknesses
I don't think so. There's no judogi in MMA where you use the opponent's momentum. So what you need to take the opponent down is strength, grip, endurance and technique. Judo allows you to take your opponent down with your opponent's center of gravity and basically you can't wrap the legs, it's restricted in that regard. But freestyle wrestling is two-sided and has a lot more options. For example, double leg takedowns and somethings like that. So Judokas who go outside the rules of Olympic Judo (i.e. Judoka who grasp the legs, etc.) are actually technically going outside these restricted "Judo" rules and becoming like a wrestler. Because of these limited rules, it is difficult for a Judoka to challenge a wrestler with just Judo. The other defense techniques they uses are actually things that are also in Freestyle Wrestling. It is a very close sport, almost all the techniques are the same, but Wrestling is more comprehensive and two-way because Judo has restrictions
@@dogukandogan6554you do realize judo has double legs and single legs? Morote gari and Kuchicki Daoshi? Leg grabs are apart of judo and have always been taught and utilized until 2010. It’s only Olympic style judo and judo clubs that leg grabs are banned. Then there Sambo which is more like old school judo than judo in the Olympics today. Luckily it’s still around and has no dumb sport rules to ban grabbing legs.

I've been doing Jiu Jitsu for a while (4.5 years) and have a blue belt in it, but then, 2 years ago, when I was I white belt, I read about the OG Gracie vs Kimura fight, which was dominated by Kimura, and I recall Kimura or one of his guys saying that the softness of the mat is one of the reason their throws were not decisive in neutralizing Grandmaster Helio Gracie right away, and it clicked in my brain that in a real fight on the street where no mats or soft surfaces exist, no matter how good I would get in Jiu Jitsu, a wrestler or judoka would beat me up easily if they land a great takedown from the get-go. The more I went to the Jiu Jitsu gym, I realized that some time in the 1980s, BJJ stopped caring that much for takedowns, and focused more on the rolling that comes afterwards, with the assumption that you will be taken down by the other guy and he would try to mount. So I kept doing Jiu Jitsu, but I started attending one Judo class and one Sambo class per week. I was being decimated, especially in Sambo which turned out to be basically rough Judo... 2 months later (only 8 classes all in all), my Jiu Jitsu got so much better, and started tapping blue and purple belts right then and there. No martial art is ever complete on its own.

Not "the best" but really good for sports and self defence.

Khabib is right. The footwork and posture in freestyle only works in freestyle.
Yes, judo is my favourite martial art to do, it’s a great experience, but it’s also one of the most useful.
And also one of the most difficult to learn and to master, if not the hardest, in my opinion
