I watched the performance live but did not complete it and then finished it and Kamila Valieva was outstanding she nailed her performance the other skaters skated well too, alena kostornaia did not look so happy but overall it was great
Yes. I think Russian fans and experts overdramatised Kostornaya’s SP problems. Main things- great glide, strong and high jumps, expressive movements, aura of energy still there. It’s was a stupid decision to let young athlete to compete for serious claim after long break with brand new programs. Plushchenko should and, probably, would have prohibit it, after all he is the general couch of their team. However, the intense bullying of Plushchenko recently exceeded all normalcy, and being that intimidated, he might have done bad decision due the loss of self confidence on impulse. I think, next season will place all figures on this Chess board correctly. After all, the normal training everywhere was almost totally disrupted by COVID.

But, since she decided to compete, she had to at least show up somewhere or else look like she got pushed out. I think they let the media get into their heads.

Cleanest and stable : Usacheva. Risky but promising though not stable (due to a atomic particularities): Valieva. Less equipped but a lot of courage and respect: Empress
Liza has the best jumping technique hands down. Kamila and daria on the other hand have severe preroration issue on their toe jumps with Kamilla IMO has the worst. Her flip and lutz (the toeloop is okay strangely) are kinda like Satoko-esque takeoff where she rotates almost 3/4 before she leaves the ice. It's amazing that she was able to do 3T after that scary 3Lz landing. Daria has flutz, sometimes she can do flat but most of the time her edge is inside.
Liza has a better 3Lz. But not 3F. Watch the video - her 3F is also 1/2 turn pre-rotation with the blade down as she pre-rotates, just like everyone else.
The video does not show the actual take off, IMO it's before 180 deg. But I notice technique change on her flip this season. She had more cleaner toe pick assist before but sometimes her edge changed to slightly ouside (lip). I guess this technique helps her to achieve that slightly inside takeoff required for flip jump.
You got it right. Liza, apparently plans to end her career judging for certain media signals, if allowed another shot at the World. Without her, Russian team seems not seriously competitive again for years, except, perhaps, for Alexandra. Though, couple of girls with seemingly correct techniques make progress with Ultra C elements in Davydov Team (Moscow)
Yes, U'right, Dasha evidently has a problem with the lutz ( almost same as Evgenia has), but i enjoy watching her on ice, probably because of her artistry and her axel is amazing ( double, but amazing). I don't know what will happen with her during the Olympics season.

Her components are also nearly maxed out. Unless she makes serious mistakes in both programs, there’s not much Trusova can do unless she too increases her difficulty by adding triple axels, which she’s already attempted and ended up injured.
@@DeepSeas.. plus it looks like Valieva's got a 4S coming, so we're looking eventually at a three quad Free. I still think Sasha can challenge her in BV with 2 4lz, 4T, 4S, but shed have to work her ass off and go clean. I think she can do a 4 quad program but the 5 she wants tends to backfire. Valieva otoh doesn't always go clean either, especially when adding new jumps, so we'll see what happens.

Discussing puberty with regards to the sport makes me feel gross, like I am watching toddlers in tiaras instead of an athletic competition between adults. it will always be a factor in the sport even in the men's competition but it should not be career ending to simply grow into an adult.

Sadly, not how it works, the reason she entered a 3 turn is bc she landed off axis (slightly inside) and unless you force your ankle to nearly die, like kamila did for the Toes, you either 3-turn out or if it's too big of a lean you'll be forced to step out. In order to make a transition first you need a solid outside edge, that goes into something else, it cannot be that fast, or it'll look uncontrolled

Yep. But I’m really scare pd for Valieva’s ankles: look too long and thin to me for confident landing. Plus too tall and lean like Sarah Hues. On this alone Usacheva and Trusova feel much safer. Looks like Usacheva passed her puberty(lucky one), Valieva and Trusova still face fighting it real soon. Given certain athletic skills of Trusova I’d put my money one her for next season, if her Couach convinces her to realistically fill her FP with stable and less risky quads. Usacheva, since looks passed her puberty about 6 months ago, can’t learn Ultra C anymore. For her it will be uphill battle. Max she can try is Tricsel. But in China it will be absolutely not enough, base values of Quad Lutz alone even with minor mistakes is higher. In The Games it’s going to be battle of quads in ladies. Unless they raise age limit this Summer. Then in Fussian team only reliable athlete looks Trusova. As usual. It’s sport, not “art”. I’m wondering if judges in China will value “artistry” over technique. Chinese style of skating will define judging criteria invevitably

Now she owns this 3A (she landed it twice very confidently in the last two events in Russia) and her quads are solid as well. I noticed she has been training to incorporate a 4S to her bolero program and I am also scared about her ankles. But I am a huge fan of her. I think she has artistry, elegance, sophistication and she can jump! Trussova, for instance, is a great jumper, but she doesn’t have the beautiful skating line that Kamila has. I simply love and admire all Russian skaters, but Kamil for me is the most compete one and I hope she gets to Chine in her peak! Fingers crossed 🤞🏻❤️

This is a fact, that you can see for yourself. Also, they have wrong take-offs that turn T & F into Lo. Even Eteri told Camila about it after one of the competition this season. This is also a fact captured on camera.

Yes, obvious incredible talent. Unfortunately take a closer look at her legs, especially ankles, hips so far ok, but if passed puberty she gain more “feminine” hips (look at her bust area, it’s usually balanced with similar size of hips in growing ladies), heavy hips landing on thin and long ankles......besides her choreography in FP tends to be too “busy”. They removed some elements recently, but not enough for her to feel in her FP like in comfortable glove. Choice of music is bad, IMHO.
That’s usual “cutting corners” trick for most of Tutberidze skaters. Kamila looks trying correct technique more often. Dalia looks like her jumping skill are set and uniform. Less possibility to improve for her, for I look at her and see the normal (not postponed ) puberty-passed young petite lady, not a child anymore.
Daria is their new Alena Kostornaia/Evgenia. If she gets a triple axle and/or quad, I honestly think she will be the toughest to beat. Her lines are WAY better than Anna, and her musicality is better than Sasha's. It would be a showdown between her and Kamila IF she gets a quad or axel. Big if, I know, but I am sure they are working on it. Eteri wants nothing more than three of her ladies chosen for the Olympic team, and she definitely wants a medal sweep. Kamila's air position on nearly all her jumps scares me. She is like a cat, almost always lands on her feet. She could use some more ballet. Her lines are OK except for her toe. POINT YOUR TOE GIRL! I love them all though. What a great time in the sport!
Idk if she needs MORE ballet in that she's so flexible already, and seems to have natural grace. I would think she would benefit from more gym tbh, and more off-ice, to gain more control over her speed and flexibility
Yes even though I am rooting for Trusova, but I feel that Daria has more potential to go to Olympic along with Kamila if she gets 3A. Daria is more way artistic than Trusova and even better than Kamila.
Kamila always points her toes, though, and she has the best lines. It comes from doing ballet, she actually started ballet before skating. She has more ballet training than all the other girls.
Daria hardly will learn quads with her relatively low and short-running triples. Double Axel though has some height and length plus rotating speed to add another turn. For serious starts next season just Trixel alone won’t be enough. Don’t forget, both Zagitova OG was all set and run through various competition nearly two years. If Daria doesn’t start more challenging elements this Summer I say it’s too late for her. Don’t forget also, that most if current quad ladies started learning these jumps at junior level. With her puberty seemingly over or almost over, it will be extremely hard to review all her jumps that are set on more or less stable anatomical features. Remember Zagitova multiple claims for quad Toe. It’s impossible, if not started before 15. Though, I can’t exclude another phenomenal potential in her similar to Liza.
yes! i started watching dasha around the pre-senior stage (one junior season before their senior debut), same way as i’d started with alena. the quality of both their skatings stood out to me in terms of artistry - i can’t really find the right word to describe exactly what drew me to either of them (as opposed to the more advanced feats like Sasha & Anna’s / Kamila’s quad jumps, or Alina’s technique over Zhenya’s performance quality) but it’s a special something. i remember very clearly thinking that dasha was the alena of this generation of skaters, with kamila being an interesting mix of anna and sasha with an aura of alina. if dasha achieves a special feat like alena did with her triple axel, she’ll be well on track to having a great run as a senior. ☺️
Love them all. They are such great skaters all in a different way. It's ok to celebrate them all I find, no need to tear anyone pf them down or nitpick. More than I can do :) May the best lady win and may they all skate their hearts out amd be brave and courageous. Can Daria go to Worlds if she places above Liza?
The problem with her Lutz (and other similar jumps, IMHO, the unfortunate anatomy of her ankles. Shaky for being too long and thin. She seems to gain some more muscle and feminine mass on her hips (obviously, infamous puberty started). That makes landing and takes offs kind of tricky whether she uses correct technique or not.

They have prerotation, unclear edges, they're overscored, Trusova is the best, Plushenko was pressured Blablabla... These competitions are hapenning in our country. If you don't agree with judges, you always have a choice - not to watch them. Let's wait and see the judges score at the Worlds. By the way, don't forget that in 2019 Sherbakova, Trusova, Kostornaya from Tutberidze team were not only the best in Russia but at international events as well. Are international judges also blind?

that 3A is $$$ and she gets the GOE everywhere else. I mean, her toe pick jumps are generally overscored imo but the 3A for 11+ points vs 4.5 for daria explains that gap, and quality of execution of literally every other element besides the pick jumps explains the gap over Tuk. I think the 10pt lean is fair.
She was slightly higher in pcs than Daria, but most of the point difference between them is in the clean triple axel. That's why it's such a valuable jump to have.
Huge respect for Liza for everything. I found it a very touching skate (despite being known for lack of artistry and completely new) and her technical content (while not perfect today, but she is more than capable of slaying it) is impressive for her age. Well deserved a 3rd place. Kamila though, while really outstanding and clearly deserving the leas, makes me worry about her future a lot - I will be hugely impressed if she has a senior career longer than Alina. And Daria has a relatively over used music (... Moulin Rouge - really?) but beautiful transitions, emotional sequences and stable (but not the most correct some of them ) jumps. Also I don't see her being over with puberty, because she is 14 and sincerely doesn't look that grown up. She reminds me a little of Evgenia?

Он есть у всех фигуристов без исключения, поскольку момент вращения тела начинается от толчковой ноги и вторая нога всегда запаздывает, поэтому его исключили из замедленных просмотров, он учитываеться, если луц прыгать ходом вперёд или как-то в бок, но это невозможно, поэтому, это всё зависть, чёрная
Когда ребро или недокрут, они ставят галку и на пересмотр уже в замедленном варианте, это допускают правила, а преоретейшен нельзя пересматривать, только то что видно не вооружённым взглядом.

These cannot be compared to Empress Elizaveta. In 2 years these girls aren't gonna be skaters anymore. :) Besides look at Eteris girls' excessive prerotations on Toe jumps. :( I would put Elizabeta in the second place.
Although she's far from perfect, I'm rooting for Valieva even if it is for the sole reason that I don't want Shcherbakova to win Worlds (when they both will be competing against each other in a few years) nor the Olympics. I truly hope that Valieva pulls a Zagitova and pushes Shcherbakova off the gold spot (or better yet, off the podium). I have a soft spot for Liza but even if she lands her magnificent jumps the judges never give her high GOE for them and the rest of her skating belongs to a previous era when transitions were almost non existent.

Kamila's lutz looks super weird. Her body is totally leaning on the inside of the edge but she somehow manages to point her left ankle inward so it seems to be on the outside edge. At the same time she's doing the jump with so much prerotation. I don't think I've ever seen any other skater jumps like that.
Weird, I have always thought an Axel was the only jump with a forward takeout but it seems in Russia, the land of inventing new jumps and praising them with a 4+ GOE (like the Flutz and the Flootz) now there is a new kind of Axel, this time with a backward take out of the blade! 🤷🏻♀️
Care to explain? I'm still new to watching skating and I've seen these words being thrown around but I have no idea what they mean, especially the backward axel.

То же самое, что случилось к концу 2019 года с Алиной Загитовой, а до этого в таком же возрасте с Евгенией Медведевой, а еще раньше с Юлией Липницкой. Косторной 17 лет, организм перестраивается. Все меняется. Алена не первая в этом плане, как вы видите, и не последняя. На очереди Щербакова... Ей исполнится 17 лет во время прохождения чемпионата мира в Стокгольме. Дай ей бог хорошего выступления. Кроме всего прочего, ей нужно исправить все ее неправильные ребра и зубцы на прыжках. Скорее всего, на международных соревнованиях ей не будут ставить по 4-5 ГОЕ за таким образом выполненные прыжки. Кстати, 11 баллов отрыва Валиевой с не идеально выполненным тройным луцем от Туктамышевой считаю абсолютно не соразмерным. И завышенные оценки Усачевой с ее неправильными рёбрами тоже.
Well Kamila won and well deserved that is, but for my taste to add a rippon in almost every jump takes off the beauty of that movement, I'm not very fond of a 3A with a rippon really because the jump itself is so beautiful, her spins are amazing and so elegant and that is what I adore from her, but deep in my heart I wanted Liza to win.
Can we acknowledge that 88 with a shaky 3Lz landing (and questionable PR and height everywhere)? That is simply, ridiculous. I wonder how big the reality check will be when they get to international judging. With a 3A I think she can make it to 80, but 88??? I have my doubts

Those kinds of athletes are sadly very hard to come by. Yeah, their PR is getting borderline offensive. They are taking of their flips and lutzes nearly at 3/4. People got mad when they did 1/2, it's crazy.

Discussing puberty with regards to the sport makes me feel gross, like I am watching toddlers in tiaras instead of an athletic competition between adults. it will always be a factor in the sport even in the men's competition but it should not be career ending to simply grow into an adult.

Sadly, not how it works, the reason she entered a 3 turn is bc she landed off axis (slightly inside) and unless you force your ankle to nearly die, like kamila did for the Toes, you either 3-turn out or if it's too big of a lean you'll be forced to step out. In order to make a transition first you need a solid outside edge, that goes into something else, it cannot be that fast, or it'll look uncontrolled

Yep. But I’m really scare pd for Valieva’s ankles: look too long and thin to me for confident landing. Plus too tall and lean like Sarah Hues. On this alone Usacheva and Trusova feel much safer. Looks like Usacheva passed her puberty(lucky one), Valieva and Trusova still face fighting it real soon. Given certain athletic skills of Trusova I’d put my money one her for next season, if her Couach convinces her to realistically fill her FP with stable and less risky quads. Usacheva, since looks passed her puberty about 6 months ago, can’t learn Ultra C anymore. For her it will be uphill battle. Max she can try is Tricsel. But in China it will be absolutely not enough, base values of Quad Lutz alone even with minor mistakes is higher. In The Games it’s going to be battle of quads in ladies. Unless they raise age limit this Summer. Then in Fussian team only reliable athlete looks Trusova. As usual. It’s sport, not “art”. I’m wondering if judges in China will value “artistry” over technique. Chinese style of skating will define judging criteria invevitably

Now she owns this 3A (she landed it twice very confidently in the last two events in Russia) and her quads are solid as well. I noticed she has been training to incorporate a 4S to her bolero program and I am also scared about her ankles. But I am a huge fan of her. I think she has artistry, elegance, sophistication and she can jump! Trussova, for instance, is a great jumper, but she doesn’t have the beautiful skating line that Kamila has. I simply love and admire all Russian skaters, but Kamil for me is the most compete one and I hope she gets to Chine in her peak! Fingers crossed 🤞🏻❤️

It makes me furious how Liza with tidy technique gets lower goe than Eteri's protégés with unclear/wrong edges and blade drops.

Of these, 90° is possible according to the rules. Camila and Anna leave 2/3 of one turn on the ice. These are not quads, these are 3.5s. This is a fact, that you can see for yourself.
Also, they have wrong take-offs that turn T & F into Lo. Even Eteri told Camila about it after one of the competition this season. This is also a fact captured on camera.

Yes, obvious incredible talent. Unfortunately take a closer look at her legs, especially ankles, hips so far ok, but if passed puberty she gain more “feminine” hips (look at her bust area, it’s usually balanced with similar size of hips in growing ladies), heavy hips landing on thin and long ankles......besides her choreography in FP tends to be too “busy”. They removed some elements recently, but not enough for her to feel in her FP like in comfortable glove. Choice of music is bad, IMHO.
Daria and Kamila had very questionable toe picks though... Only Liza had perfect edge and toe pick technique.
Liza has same kind of toe pick as the other girls ant 1/2 pre-rotation on her 3F. The only minimal pre-rotation jump she has is 3Lz.
That’s usual “cutting corners” trick for most of Tutberidze skaters. Kamila looks trying correct technique more often. Dalia looks like her jumping skill are set and uniform. Less possibility to improve for her, for I look at her and see the normal (not postponed ) puberty-passed young petite lady, not a child anymore.
Daria has only a 2A, but it is very good axel.
Her 3Lutz (or flutz) is also very pretty overall.

Daria is their new Alena Kostornaia/Evgenia. If she gets a triple axle and/or quad, I honestly think she will be the toughest to beat. Her lines are WAY better than Anna, and her musicality is better than Sasha's. It would be a showdown between her and Kamila IF she gets a quad or axel. Big if, I know, but I am sure they are working on it. Eteri wants nothing more than three of her ladies chosen for the Olympic team, and she definitely wants a medal sweep. Kamila's air position on nearly all her jumps scares me. She is like a cat, almost always lands on her feet. She could use some more ballet. Her lines are OK except for her toe. POINT YOUR TOE GIRL! I love them all though. What a great time in the sport!
Idk if she needs MORE ballet in that she's so flexible already, and seems to have natural grace. I would think she would benefit from more gym tbh, and more off-ice, to gain more control over her speed and flexibility
Yes even though I am rooting for Trusova, but I feel that Daria has more potential to go to Olympic along with Kamila if she gets 3A. Daria is more way artistic than Trusova and even better than Kamila.
Kamila always points her toes, though, and she has the best lines. It comes from doing ballet, she actually started ballet before skating. She has more ballet training than all the other girls.
Daria hardly will learn quads with her relatively low and short-running triples. Double Axel though has some height and length plus rotating speed to add another turn. For serious starts next season just Trixel alone won’t be enough. Don’t forget, both Zagitova OG was all set and run through various competition nearly two years. If Daria doesn’t start more challenging elements this Summer I say it’s too late for her. Don’t forget also, that most if current quad ladies started learning these jumps at junior level. With her puberty seemingly over or almost over, it will be extremely hard to review all her jumps that are set on more or less stable anatomical features. Remember Zagitova multiple claims for quad Toe. It’s impossible, if not started before 15. Though, I can’t exclude another phenomenal potential in her similar to Liza.
yes! i started watching dasha around the pre-senior stage (one junior season before their senior debut), same way as i’d started with alena. the quality of both their skatings stood out to me in terms of artistry - i can’t really find the right word to describe exactly what drew me to either of them (as opposed to the more advanced feats like Sasha & Anna’s / Kamila’s quad jumps, or Alina’s technique over Zhenya’s performance quality) but it’s a special something. i remember very clearly thinking that dasha was the alena of this generation of skaters, with kamila being an interesting mix of anna and sasha with an aura of alina.
if dasha achieves a special feat like alena did with her triple axel, she’ll be well on track to having a great run as a senior. ☺️
Love them all. They are such great skaters all in a different way. It's ok to celebrate them all I find, no need to tear anyone pf them down or nitpick. More than I can do :) May the best lady win and may they all skate their hearts out amd be brave and courageous. Can Daria go to Worlds if she places above Liza?

Kamila’s lutz edge was not clean. The edge is clearly shifting from a shallow outside to a flat edge. The axel looked dope tho!

The problem with her Lutz (and other similar jumps, IMHO, the unfortunate anatomy of her ankles. Shaky for being too long and thin. She seems to gain some more muscle and feminine mass on her hips (obviously, infamous puberty started). That makes landing and takes offs kind of tricky whether she uses correct technique or not.
In particular, unsteady ankles explain shifting edge in Lutz take off

They have prerotation, unclear edges, they're overscored, Trusova is the best, Plushenko was pressured Blablabla... These competitions are hapenning in our country. If you don't agree with judges, you always have a choice - not to watch them. Let's wait and see the judges score at the Worlds. By the way, don't forget that in 2019 Sherbakova, Trusova, Kostornaya from Tutberidze team were not only the best in Russia but at international events as well. Are international judges also blind?

that 3A is $$$ and she gets the GOE everywhere else. I mean, her toe pick jumps are generally overscored imo but the 3A for 11+ points vs 4.5 for daria explains that gap, and quality of execution of literally every other element besides the pick jumps explains the gap over Tuk. I think the 10pt lean is fair.

She was slightly higher in pcs than Daria, but most of the point difference between them is in the clean triple axel. That's why it's such a valuable jump to have.

Huge respect for Liza for everything. I found it a very touching skate (despite being known for lack of artistry and completely new) and her technical content (while not perfect today, but she is more than capable of slaying it) is impressive for her age. Well deserved a 3rd place. Kamila though, while really outstanding and clearly deserving the leas, makes me worry about her future a lot - I will be hugely impressed if she has a senior career longer than Alina. And Daria has a relatively over used music (... Moulin Rouge - really?) but beautiful transitions, emotional sequences and stable (but not the most correct some of them ) jumps. Also I don't see her being over with puberty, because she is 14 and sincerely doesn't look that grown up. She reminds me a little of Evgenia?

Когда ребро или недокрут, они ставят галку и на пересмотр уже в замедленном варианте, это допускают правила, а преоретейшен нельзя пересматривать, только то что видно не вооружённым взглядом.

These cannot be compared to Empress Elizaveta. In 2 years these girls aren't gonna be skaters anymore. :) Besides look at Eteris girls' excessive prerotations on Toe jumps. :( I would put Elizabeta in the second place.
Although she's far from perfect, I'm rooting for Valieva even if it is for the sole reason that I don't want Shcherbakova to win Worlds (when they both will be competing against each other in a few years) nor the Olympics. I truly hope that Valieva pulls a Zagitova and pushes Shcherbakova off the gold spot (or better yet, off the podium).
I have a soft spot for Liza but even if she lands her magnificent jumps the judges never give her high GOE for them and the rest of her skating belongs to a previous era when transitions were almost non existent.

Kamila's lutz looks super weird. Her body is totally leaning on the inside of the edge but she somehow manages to point her left ankle inward so it seems to be on the outside edge. At the same time she's doing the jump with so much prerotation. I don't think I've ever seen any other skater jumps like that.

Weird, I have always thought an Axel was the only jump with a forward takeout but it seems in Russia, the land of inventing new jumps and praising them with a 4+ GOE (like the Flutz and the Flootz) now there is a new kind of Axel, this time with a backward take out of the blade! 🤷🏻♀️

То же самое, что случилось к концу 2019 года с Алиной Загитовой, а до этого в таком же возрасте с Евгенией Медведевой, а еще раньше с Юлией Липницкой. Косторной 17 лет, организм перестраивается. Все меняется. Алена не первая в этом плане, как вы видите, и не последняя. На очереди Щербакова... Ей исполнится 17 лет во время прохождения чемпионата мира в Стокгольме. Дай ей бог хорошего выступления. Кроме всего прочего, ей нужно исправить все ее неправильные ребра и зубцы на прыжках. Скорее всего, на международных соревнованиях ей не будут ставить по 4-5 ГОЕ за таким образом выполненные прыжки.
Кстати, 11 баллов отрыва Валиевой с не идеально выполненным тройным луцем от Туктамышевой считаю абсолютно не соразмерным. И завышенные оценки Усачевой с ее неправильными рёбрами тоже.

Well Kamila won and well deserved that is, but for my taste to add a rippon in almost every jump takes off the beauty of that movement, I'm not very fond of a 3A with a rippon really because the jump itself is so beautiful, her spins are amazing and so elegant and that is what I adore from her, but deep in my heart I wanted Liza to win.

Those kinds of athletes are sadly very hard to come by. Yeah, their PR is getting borderline offensive. They are taking of their flips and lutzes nearly at 3/4. People got mad when they did 1/2, it's crazy.
