    Thanks for this video! When I lived in Texas in the 70s I rode a Honda CB550Four. Great riding in all that heat and Texas sunshine!
    All these years later I am way out west and north of you and I ride a 2017 Triumph Bonneville T120. I used to have a 2001 Kawasaki W650 - carbs and kickstarter and all - but traded it in a couple of years ago for the bigger/better Bonnie.
    Miss my 'W', and am tempted to have a go at that beautiful new W800!

    Older riders BE WARNED that there is very little adjustment in the handle bars on the Cafe. They are lower than they look and you cannot easily or cheaply replace with higher bars BECAUSE the wiring and cables are only JUST long enough for the stock bars. I owned the beautiful W800 Cafe for about a year but it was too much for my (old) back. The beautiful road version was not available when I bought my Cafe, but had it been I would definitely have opted for it over the Cafe.Still the moral of this story is that I went for form over function and FOOLED myself that the bars on the Cafe were "not THAT low". Alas, they ARE. I now own a 2019 Kawasaki Verseys LT (awesome bike) and an ancient Triumph twin. Btw Kawasaki should put a 6 speed box in the Ws and do something about the vibration at speeds of about 100-110 kmph - and this is coming from a guy who owns a 51 year old Triumph that vibrates a lot. The vibration in the W800 is not, in my opinion, comfortable or about the "character" of an otherwise awesome bike.

    Great rewiew! Good job!
    Nothing changed from 1999, even the white stitch on the saddle with a Kawasaki logo, except fuel injection instead of pair of carburetors and kick starter disappeared

      @john harris I didn't know kick start doesn't work with FI? Why is that??
      I used to have a 2001 W650 that had a kickstarter and carbs. Now I have a new Bonneville T120 which I love, but this new W800 looks great!

    Note Cafe has 18 inch front wheel, the other one has 19. They are pretty detuned for regs but you can push over 60 with tricks I believe. The earlier carb 650s can be jetted up, and go.

    Bikes look great, however with a price tag of 10 grand, IMO I'd rather spend just a little more and get the z900rs cafe.

    Love the standard not a fan of the cafe craze but at almost $11500 it's just over priced. At $8500 I would buy one tomorrow

      If someone wants to sell you a new w800 for almost $12k they're 100% ripping you off. The z900rs msrp's for that much (double the power, similar concept.) My dealership had 2 2019s brand new (both listed at MSRP prices of $9700) and they were willing to sell me either one for just over $8k. I went with the cafe and was looking at a little over $9k out the door. In the US, there's a bunch of dealers who got rebates from Kawasaki for keeping these in the showroom for so long. So in the end you're able to get a good deal unless you run into a snake of a dealership/salesman.

    • @Virtualmix
      @Virtualmix 4 года назад +2

      Yes. You may not have your feet flat on the ground but you should be able to tune the suspensions to make it confortable enough for you.
