Love your work! I am trying to loosen up. I'm new to the fountain pen world and have three now, one being a Fude nib. Love it!
Really enjoyed this presentation. Beautiful ink work and watercolors
His work is absolutely lovely. Such a great guy too :)
Thanks for your comment, Mary! Glad you enjoyed the artworks 🙏
Boy, I wish I was closer for fountain pen clinic!!! I'm excited to find your posts!
Just ordered a Fude, got two for $30, 1-40° and 1- 55°.angles
Great work, thanks for sharing this interesting content.
Looking forward to the fountain pen workshop. I am just starting off at sketching so very anxious to learn anything & everything I need to know. Just subscribed recently !
Great works! Really like them.
I am only watching this video long after it aired.... what kind of ink does he use? His ink doesn't appear to bleed with the addition of water, so is it waterproof or water resistent and what brands does he use? Thanks
I love your work & have seen you on Etcher Lab videos. Question: can you have Fude nibs ground to very very fine tips?
I love your hair Brenda!
Thank you Lorraine! Just cut yesterday! :)
Just thought that I'd interject, Tod is a Yorkshire word for fox, 🦊 so Todmorden means the foxes den on the moors, The original Todmorden is near where the Brontë sisters lived near Halifax West Yorkshire.
Cool!
Yes, Fude (筆) means Brush. Foo-Day. In this context - brush. The characters in Japanese are very contextual. Look into Sumi-e as an analog. The story of the invention of a Fude pen is unclear - the most likely story I have heard is: the founder of a Japanese pen company saw a fountain pen(in the west) and wanted it to work like a brush: thus the Fude was invented. The story says it was the founder of Sailor. I doubt it was invented in China, considering the time and their own preference for the traditional, at the time especially. *The large wooden pen he is showing is a very special version of a fude - with three prongs. Most Fude have two like most Fountain pens. The pen he is using is called the Confucius(Kung Fu Tze) pen(by Duke) if you wanted it = I find it over priced(now near 50$) ;)
I use my fude pens to draw kanji - and the hexagrams for the I Ching. One of our oldest works of philosophy. *Solution to needing loads of ink - and wanting to try it out? Look up the JinHao Shark. They are inexpensive pens that come with converters for ink or can be converted to eye dropper fill. The also come in Fude nibs. *Fude dry? If using a converter you can prime the feed by twisting the knob to force ink into the nib - You can turn till you see a drop - and turn back to suck it back up - no waste and ready to write. ;)
Can use a waterproof (India) ink in a Fude pen?
It is my understanding that India ink shouldn’t be used in any fountain pen including fude.
