Think you are misunderstanding. An automatic draft would mean all 18-25 aged males will automatically be registered for the draft instead of having having to manually draft one self. Now, every male of age has a chance of being drafted. Wealth and race will not factor into being drafted.

I was a Marine Corps Drill Instructor during the sixties at MCRD San Diego and at OCS Quantico VA. I also had 3 tours in Vietnam 🇻🇳. During the sixties we had a very large number of draftees we could not read and write ✍️. A very large number were sent to our Special Training Branches even before boot camp could begin. We also had a few who could not pass any of our training and were sent back home. I also believe that a high number of our new draftees will not comply and leave our country and that it could be worse than the Vietnam 🇻🇳 times.

This is ONLY automatic registration for the Selective Service System (SSS), this is not and never has been the / a draft. In the US you are (and have been for many, many, years) required (by law) to register for the SSS within 30 days of your 18th birthday. This is not a new requirement, but more and more people are failing to do so. The process being considered now would automate this SSS registration. And they are considering adding females to the already existing SSS requirement. This concept (females and the SSS) has come around many times in the past, and will, in my opinion, be a requirement eventually.

I watched articles of homeless vets those who served in the military. America keep having wars to protect their interests. Throughout the years under the notion u are serving your country. Why as of now would the government want to make drafting mandatory? Could the government even handle the backlashes if more n more vers suffer from ptsd? The way i see it there are many ways to serve the country rather than having troops being deployed to war torn countries .
