Hello from Philadelphia, Loise! I just wanted to point out that your explanations are invaluable. Every time you say what it is you are thinking when you approach a white piece of paper - the tonal values, whether to work wet on wet or wet on dry, whether to add more of a particular color to a mix - these details in your thinking, and saying it, is just brilliant. The big lesson you are giving us is to slow down, think about it for a bit, and then proceed. What a gift you are! Thank you 💕🥀
In my free time, I've been soaking up some of your classes on Skillshare. I sit gobsmacked but keen to learn, and felt the need to tell you something you may already know: you're a damn fine teacher Louise. Damn fine. I've spent a lifetime teaching... ballroom dancing (when I was young!), stained glass, hardanger and college English, so I know whereof I speak. You've definitely got the gift. You are very relatable (esp. w/ the bloopers!), and have a sincerity that is engaging. Thank you for sharing your talent and knowledge; it's genuinely appreciated.
The colours are pretty and makes the flower look so delicate. Once again, you explained your methods so well! Just stunning. Thank you for sharing your talent.
I did water colours for 25+ years, I so enjoyed your video ! I had forgotten how much I missed the whole process. Lovely end painting !Just using the three colours keeps such a clean and clear painting. Can't wait to check out some of your other work !
I’ve just finished viewing this lovely preview.......looking forward for the full tutorial next month💞. As always I love 💕 your great sense of humour as a final touch. You are a beautiful and very talented woman. 🙏
Wonderful lesson on peony! Love using only 3 colors, something I’m trying to limit my palate, I learned so much and will watch it again! To learn less is best is hard lesson for me! Thank you Karen Dirmish
I’m almost 3 years into w/c painting, and I’m nowhere close to your calibre but I have to say, you’re an inspiration and I truly love to watch you, and am so very impressed with your skills❤️. Love the bloopers btw:). 👍👍
Thank you for sharing your you expertise on watercolour ,I am from Iceland and heave been painting for some time .I heave learned more from your videos than any other I heave been watching I am mostly self tought. Looking foward to your next one ....Happy painting !!
Absolutely gorgeous painting, love the limited palette used in here. I kept telling myself.... You have to try and paint this one today. Thank you so much for sharing this
This is a lovely painting again Louise! It’s always a treat to see your latest posts and learning from you. Would you consider posting this & the print outline on Patreon so we can try it too please? Apologies to non patreons here - you’ll just have to join us!
Thank you for your so detailed explanation about colors mixing. I'm creating the color swatch with watercolor for my work but I'm not an artist so I didn't know how the color mixing will develop on drawing or about artist's reflection to find the color from the real object. It's a small video but I learned lots of things. 🙏
That's a whole lot of petals! It's beautiful as always! ❤️ I love how you used limited colors. I feel that together with your explanation and demonstration, it does help enhance one's color mixing skills! 😁👍
LOL, that's why I've taken to calling the cold-pressed "NOT" like the Britishes do. Hot, NOT, and rough. I guess it means just, "not" hot-pressed? Well anyway I got a ream of rough which I'm really enjoying! And a 'fat pad' of Bockingford, which isn't even cotton but you can lift phthalo off that stuff. (The shipping cost way more than the 'fat pad'! But I like it! It does strange things, but really being able to lift PY150 or other stainers was really cool.) Love the peony. I liked the first ones you showed, as well. The production value of your videos is always exquisite (and I'm always so happy to see someone else spraying the tube paint off the brush and onto the palette to spare the paint! I actually tried finger-squeezing a blob of paint off a brush once. Staining, and learned one can get a lovely "allergic reaction" to watercolour pigments, too! Spray bottles are great friends!)
Thank you! That's interesting about the Bockingford paper. I've not tried it. I've only used rough paper once and it was good to paint on. Cold pressed is my favourite though.
Excellent instruction! My question is this: When you draw out your image, how do you get keep from getting confused with all of the lines in the flower? It’s confusing to me!
Thank you Becky. It can be confusing. I try to have patience when I draw and paint detailed subjects like this. Because I'm looking for realism, I paint it one petal at a time. I don't paint flowers like this often because I find them a bit tedious.
That was lovely thank you. One quick question, what was the pencil eraser pen thing you used briefly please? I struggle with precise removal of unwanted pencil lines.
Thank you L. I didn't show it in this tutorial but I used my small Rosemary and Co eradicator brush to clean up some of the petals. I should have a link in the description. You see me using my Da Vinci Maestros in this video.
oh my - as always, your art is absolutely stunning! way beyond my abilities but I sooo enjoy watching the process and seeing the finished piece. Thank you for sharing with us.

Love peony! If I were doing peony different color would I dissect petals one time? Then look over whole flower as whole?
