3D printing is definitely the way to go, yeah 3D printers can cost a few hundreds, but in the long run it's much cheaper. The same plane that costs $500 on Motion RC you could print and make for less than $150 with all of the components.
Do we need the engineering design / drawings otherwise how you are gonna print certain design, and pieces that fit together to form a plan. Anyone knows how it works?!
I have tried them all, from dollar tree foam boards, to foam planes( EPP, EPS,EPO), balsa, and 3 d printed planes. The best remains balsa. In terms of durability and best flight characteristics, Balsa is the way to go.
I built a few - couple of thin walled ones and some of the other larger ones. The durability is the issue. The planes flew quite well but never held up past 3-4 flights without some major structural issue showing related to the printing - just too may points of failure. At least for me, 3D printed planes aren't economical - I have hundreds of flights on some of my balsa and foam planes.
Awesome vid and planes! I am 3D printing my second plane. It's gonna open the door to a lot of awesome stuff, you an 3D print molds and carbon fibre wings. Question about the Mig - it looked like the tail was dragging - What was going on there?
Thanks for watching !! No tail wheel: the landing gear was off a Corsair I believe and the mains are a little short so the back end touches the floor on the MiG lol skeleton building with spare parts!
@@Jays_rcgarage Yes it is the Fokker D1 and it is a blast to build. It's small so you have to think about which servos to use and obviously a small batter and motor. It's a good kit but it's no 3D printed aircraft. That's my next venture. Happy flying and keep up with the videos. They are fun to watch. Thanks!
@@Jays_rcgarage I should have also said that I am going to start my 1/350 ship of the Turpitz. I also have the same scale of the USS Enterprise Space Ship. There is also the Klingon Battle Cruiser. Well now you know why I'm divorced.

@Jays_rcgarage yeah I saw your video I grabbed the hobby king f16 50mm because they were almost gone but I do want that eachine f18 foing to get the hobby king one as well I'm still a beginner but they are something to build towards for me. I was wondering if your buddy was going to do a f18 3d print or if thats possible at all? And what printer he used?
Yall want a kick ass setup for the F18? Ket the kit version, go with the xfly 4s motor, get at least a 40amp ESC and program it for NiCD battery or get a 6s compatible ecs, then run 5s lipo batts, I use 1300 tattu 100c lipos. 97mph if my Gyro wasn't having a tantrum, I am sure it would've hit 100. You're welcome 😈
fyi it looks like the size of the exit duct on the mig is less-than optimal. exit area Should be Equal to the Effective Swept Area of the impeller. googletranslate
Oh no... they are still grumpy. So many times I've been told I'm cheating by 3D Printing a plane. I respond that they're cheating 'cause they didn't grow their own wood. Goofballs.
I want to say 25 years ago I spent two months gluing together and cutting and sanding and coating and building a plane and then I went and bought a fancy four channel radio and at nitro motor and a prop and balance that prop and did all the things and bought all the pieces and the end of the summer I went to go fly my plane and 30 seconds later I had a radio to servos a nitro motor and some kindling😂

Re-watch 4:57 $30 airframe but $400 total and a weeks worth of printing time.
PLUS $38 for the plans.
im pretty sure he's talking about the 109@@toolbaggers
hes talking about either one. the transmitters 90mm engine and ecu cost money@@i_dont_know_anymore223

watch out with spektrum, aka "team failsafe"
more like pre programed to fail. spektrum is the worst. cheap china junk is better
I like the BF 109
Some of my planes have the SAFE option. These 2 planes didn’t !!
That MiG handled awesomely.
I have that same model hanging off my ceiling ..3D printed 6 years ago ... BF-109
Did you fly over/behind the flight line? or are you only allowed to fly around in circuits without doing anything fun until the battery runs out?
Ya bruh I fly wherever
Amazing job on flying these ,guys

Mate, what brand of EDF is in the Mig? The other builds I have seen sound like hair dryers, but this thing sounds awesome!
Just make sure you get a 12 blade it will souns good

Excellent!!
Thank you!
I'm building a Triplane from WW1. It's just a kit from Guillows. Thee lazer cut wood is fantastic. Your printed aircraft are fantastic.

WHat model was the 109? The MiG's separation lines on the tail are wrong for mixing. They're completely separate like the F-86.
That mig 15 looks sick!!!!
How big of a 3D printer do you need for the 109?
200mmx200mm

there's people that get mad at you if you show up and fly a plane you got at the store? really?
Can a person put a nitro engine on a 3d printed plane?
You can do anything...once. But for how long?

wait why do they hate "foamies" there?

Flying a circular pattern after a while has got to get boring right? It's like Nascar but nothing interesting happens.
It's exactly like Nascar, the only fun is watching the crashes.
Ask him how much he wants for the mig 15 lol
Landing gear look a little weak...
Are there actually fields that dont allow foamies? Wtf
