2023 08 16 Race

Wow! Another great race against Syndicate.
Forecast called for mid twenties through the evening. We saw gusts in the low twenties, but the breeze was generally in the mid teens with quite a few holes.
Pretty good start near the pin. Uneventful upwind. Good hoist at 88. After a rock'n roll jibe, the plan was to go left and do one more jibe to approach mark 82 with rights on starboard. But Blue Star, sailing DDW on Starboard, had other ideas. So, we had to sail deeper than we wanted to make the mark. For a while it looked like we'd be rounding on the outside of a 3x pinwheel. Fortunately, we broke the overlap just before the zone (very arguable assertion) and rounded clear ahead. Heading home, we pulled lose cover but it wasn't quite enough.
Great to have a similar boat to race against.

Thanks. The main camera mounted on the transom is an Insta360 X3. The camera on the bow is a GoPro Hero 11. The sound is from a DJI Bluetooth mic mounted on the winch handle holder in the cockpit. For next week's video I'll have a second lavalier mic mounted on one of the the bow girls.

Looks a lot like white has an overlap on blue at 6:11 , so you’d need to give water to both of them…
Could be the camera angle, but if not I’m amazed white let you get away with the ‘no water’ call…

Yeah, it was an optimistic call, and a little early. But it didn't matter, since the C&C was slowing as the K30 stole their air in a failed attempt to get inside. By the the time we headed up to make the turn, Blue Star was well behind.
