Just found this channel watching your UT191 review. You got a new subscriber, that's for sure!
Welcome Aboard!
Looks like a handy little meter to have in the toolkit. I may have to pick one up. Thanks!
It's really useful! Especially for those tiny smd packages. The tweezer tips are nicely machined.
Hey there, i've bought the same one and found out, if you press the 'FUNC' button for severals seoncds, it will turn off.
Board Rev. 2.1 however, so not sure if this is new function or not.
I have a Mastech MS8910. I like this HP-990B better. It uses AAA instead of CR2032. Great review sir.
I agree the AAA are definitely better. Thanks for watching!
Hey better than expected, and ill say one thing about them, most of their stuff works pretty well -- except for an HC38C pen I have, not too fond of it but this tweezer seems like a very good effort in a small package.
Surprisingly useful smd tweezer that's well built. I'm using it often as of late for quick checks when I don't feel like pulling out the big boyz!
Thank you for your informative review..
There are 2 selector switches, one can only be accessed when the case is opened, what does it do?
There's only one selector , the other is a a function switch.
@@KeepOnTesting @10:45 there is a switch above the speaker what does that do?
@@PioNunes Thats the range selector switch.
Cute little bugger! Too bad continuity isn't about 10 db's higher. Otherwise, a sweet little unit with quality construction. Thanks, Darren.
Good point Hal, I failed to mention the low volume piezo. Definitely could have been a few notches louder! Nicely constructed all around for such a low cost smd tweezer.
what would it show on a bad cap? i'm thinking if it could be used to quickly find bad caps on a motherboard or a phone what do you think?
Hi good job, can you please explain the hp-990b internal switch function?
R/D/C RESISTANCE DIODE CAPACITANCE
Let me know if this is what you were asking?
@@KeepOnTesting There is a switch on both sides of the PCB. On the front-facing side it goes to the range selector (SW1). On the battery-side there is another (SW2). It doesn't seem to go to any slider on the external body. I think the question is what does that "secret" switch do?
@@pault6533 OK Paul, sounds like it's worthy of a second look! Enquiring minds want to know ! 😃 to be cont'd..
@@KeepOnTesting I'll send you an internal picture of mine, the HP-990C. The switch is "up" on mine, otherwise looks exact. I had a hunch it was the only thing separating a "C" from a "B" but the PCB has a unique silkscreen indicating the model. I found reviews for the "A" version which did not have the switch, but did have a calibration pot.
@@KeepOnTesting Mystery still unsolved? The 990A doesn't have it, but the B and C do.
The (-) springs are very long in the battery bay, not a helical spiral. There is also a big bump on the (+) side. For me, this means bigger batteries don't fit, like eneloops or lithium primaries. I guess it's cheapo batteries for a cheapo meter. I like it though, nice sharp tips. Icons in the display that are barely readable. Doesn't do very low resistance or very low capacitance, but hey it does Zeners well enough to make up for it's deficiencies.
Good point 👉 it's definitely capable and quite a bargain when you can get it on sale. Well built and I love the color 😊
@@KeepOnTesting Problem solved by lobbing off half the spring with a diamond bit on a rotary tool, now accepts all types of cells!
@@pault6533 Ahhh perfect.. good job Paul !

10:38 can't we mod/tweak the speaker so that the sound gets louder ?
Technically yes, you could try replacing the speaker with another compatible unit.
Ele tem uma tecla de desligar SIM. Segure por três segundos a tecla FUNC e o aparelho desliga , como um celular ; simples assim.
This meter can scan automatically smd, resistor, capacitor, diode??
Negative, you need to select the desired range via the selector switch.
can it test normal component instead of smd?
Yes although its designed for smd it can certainly test regular non smd components. 👍
Darren please review mastech mas830l cheap o meter,I'm sad that you ignored my advice. By the way uni t ut 33d+ works nice I have purchased it.😄😄
Excellent news!! 33d+ is awesome!
No worry about the MS830l it will be reviewed shortly...I have not forgotten :)
