Awesome, man!!! I am from ohio. I wish i wasn't driving the big big truck. I would have loved to come meet you. Keep it up. You will win the build off for sure!
Well I'd consider it to the predecessor to the Revolution motor in the Pan-American and new sportster. People are starting to accept them and make aftermarket parts for them like Brian Kruesi. Getting those old air cooled guys to change is unlikely ,but any dirt bike guy knows water cooled makes more hp off the bat.
Mine was a rocket. 128 hp. Fastest Harley ive ever been on and fun to ride except in corners. That fat tire didnt track worth a damn. Very low so scraped the pegs and would pull your boot off .
@@toby2138 Yeah, I heard that basically the bike is too low for hard cornering. Thats very disappointing. IMO they should update it to correct it and bring it back. But I know they won't.
My Ducat Scrambler's V-Twin engine looks tiny in comparison! Super interesting insight. You made my day! As usual, super informative and fun to watch! :)
Great video, the guys working on the bike are clearly experts on the model. As for that. Milling machine, I get the that. I served my apprenticeship in the factory where Airbus wings are made and they had ( and still have) some huge cutting machines, which were fascinating to watch.
Typically for machine parts: Forged > Billet > Cast Forged is usually best because the grain structure if the steel follows the shape of the part, while billet has open grain runout.
I agree, but if the cast part does the job perfectly fine, they are just equally good. In this case, nobody would ever cast a different camshaft since it's kinda pointless.
Your tip on fouling plugs on short rides - same goes for winter storage. Take the bike on a long ride, get everything hot, before you store it, helps with rust in the pipes and rust on the brakes. Never wash it and wheel it in the garage. Park it hot.
Nice to see you in the neighborhood I’m 30 miles down the road. I used to run a floor mill that had a table of 20ft. By 40ft. And used 12ft. tall angle plates. Crazy machines. If I by a VRod I know where to take it.
I had an 08 anniversary V-Rod. It was a hell of a bike. Great performance and appearance, but the riding position was medieval torture. I sold it for that reason alone.
I am more impressed with the engineering team that brought us the V-rod after seeing this video. Equally impressed with the knowledge of these mechanics how to get the most performance possible from the V-Rod!🧐
I'm not a typical Harley man, but I could see a vrod as a possibility in my future sometime. Mainly because I can't justify spending the kind of money for a newish HD, but used to play with a mate that had a nightrod, and the looks of them is just so much the future, and looks fast, even when parked, This video contains so much info and probably tips, it was a learning experience. Thankyou.
HD - turning gas and air into heat and noise, and possibly a little power. Great job to get an extra 10% HP out of it without really going to town on the components, and a very enjoyable and informative video too.

Ive heard of some guys getting 120 out of a scout with big bore kit cams and the right intake and exhaust. Obviously yhe scout it smaller and lighter but not by much. Only real upside it has is a 6 speed transmission. This solidifies the vrod is an awesome platform and it sucks Harley ditched it.
Awesome, man!!! I am from ohio. I wish i wasn't driving the big big truck. I would have loved to come meet you. Keep it up. You will win the build off for sure!
These guys seem to be the place to get a vrod singing the right sound 😎👍✌
Craig this V rod is turning into a masterpiece bud. Amazing work
People like to hate on the Vrods but I love them. They should have put that engine in a few different models.
It is really dependable and good power!
@@spartanx169x Check out the new water cooled Nightster with the Revo motor. I'd consider it the predecessor to the V-rod
My Ducat Scrambler's V-Twin engine looks tiny in comparison! Super interesting insight. You made my day! As usual, super informative and fun to watch! :)
One of the best vrod builders in the game certainly
Great video, the guys working on the bike are clearly experts on the model. As for that. Milling machine, I get the that. I served my apprenticeship in the factory where Airbus wings are made and they had ( and still have) some huge cutting machines, which were fascinating to watch.
Typically for machine parts: Forged > Billet > Cast
Forged is usually best because the grain structure if the steel follows the shape of the part, while billet has open grain runout.
I agree, but if the cast part does the job perfectly fine, they are just equally good. In this case, nobody would ever cast a different camshaft since it's kinda pointless.
I don't even know how to ride a bike. But i love this channel 😂
This shop does nice work. Those mods are nice
Big Dave here, I'm a huge fan of THE BEARDED MECHANIC. HOW 😊wonderful it is to see someone tackle something like wiring and enjoy it.
I always hated V rods until today!!!! I would love to own that bike and it’s not even finished!!!!🎉
What a treat👍🏼😂😂 the soundtrack had me crackin up. 😂😂😂 Lost Dog - War music was hilarious
Ive been a maintenance engineer for most my life, Never come a cross a four mill. Ive been educated, thank you.
H G Wells Time Machine.
Floor mill? You poking fun at me for not being able to pronounce certain things correctly?
Your tip on fouling plugs on short rides
- same goes for winter storage. Take the bike on a long ride, get everything hot, before you store it, helps with rust in the pipes and rust on the brakes. Never wash it and wheel it in the garage. Park it hot.
That crane makes everything look easy… Craig dropping strong hints on what he wants this Xmas 😅
Really loved your guys video! Simple tips and important ones!
So glad you picked the vrod my actual dream bike
Nice to see you in the neighborhood I’m 30 miles down the road. I used to run a floor mill that had a table of 20ft. By 40ft. And used 12ft. tall angle plates. Crazy machines.
If I by a VRod I know where to take it.
I had an 08 anniversary V-Rod. It was a hell of a bike. Great performance and appearance, but the riding position was medieval torture. I sold it for that reason alone.
Very well done video with extensive descriptions of the process and engine parts. THANKS!
Australia loving your content
Fantastic video. Great teaching moment for the DIY mechanic and even the professional. Can't wait to see the power increases... Go Team Craig...
Lucas is the hero of this episode.
Mainly because I can't justify spending the kind of money for a newish HD, but used to play with a mate that had a nightrod, and the looks of them is just so much the future, and looks fast, even when parked,
This video contains so much info and probably tips, it was a learning experience. Thankyou.
I love his work he can find them
Dan and the bearded mechanic chemistry is poetry in motion! Best motorcycle Channel on youtube
HD - turning gas and air into heat and noise, and possibly a little power.
Great job to get an extra 10% HP out of it without really going to town on the components, and a very enjoyable and informative video too.
Enjoying this build, great work 👍
