@45:00 that’s where a lot of people died uso tryna run up that hill when the tsunami was coming. That part of the cliff you were facing that looks bare is the mark from the wave (22 metres) The graffiti are the names of the people that died in that village if I’m correct was 32 deaths in lalomanu alone. Seeing it in person is eerie af, and it almost dead silent in that village.
Love this content , explained the circumstances of how local Samoans make a living you’re literally swimming in someone’s backyard and that $40 tala you paid at Vavao is so small compared to the overseas currency, lol thanks for putting into perspective 😂❤
Well said, same in rural New Zealand with the indigenous. They don't like trespassers on their ancetral beaches. Each family have their own part of the beach, and they're kept immaculate condition.
Thank you Spanian for taking the time to see the truth. Beaches in villages are private beaches and many of them allow anyone to swim without cost, as per our customs in welcoming all. The ones that did charge were families and villages that obviously spend money in building fales (huts), restrooms and keep the beaches clean for visitors to enjoy and visit. $50 tala is equivalent to around $20USD and to pay that for a vehicle to park and enjoy a full day at the beach is an absolute deal. Above all else, visitors can look around and see that Samoans there live a simple life and $50 helps to provide for their families. You’ll spend $1000’s at resort tourist traps and complain about $50 to see the real Samoa? And they say it’s the ‘principle’? Give us a break🤦🏽.

That side of Samoa where you said it looked poor was where the 2009 tsunami hit and wiped out majority of the villages and people that lived there. Really sad cause pre 2009 tsunami it was just as beautiful as the rest of the coastal areas of Samoa🇼🇸
My family and I were in Samoa Feb 2009. My husband and 3 toddlers at that time. Yes we were approached to pay for parking at the beach. Very respectful, no pressure to pay. My opinion at the time, was good on this family trying to make an income on their property. I think it was $20 tala. We asked if they provided lunch. No problem. So all up we paid $50 Tala for parking, large fale and this very generous meal for 2 Adults and 3 kids. Spent the entire day swimming and relaxing. Magical beaches and the locals are really friendly and helpful. 8 kids later, and I can't wait to take the rest of my family back there and show them my mum's village, LufiLufi. Have people stop to think that the fee not only helps to contribute to the village but to also keep the beach clean. Imagine waking up early to clean up after everyone for free. I would be so pissed off I’d close the beach to everyone. It’s been a while since I visited home but watching videos of Samoa and seeing the beaches still well maintained shows the villagers take pride in taking care of their land. That’s their paradise they share with everyone. Keep an open mind next time when visiting other countries because you haven’t lived a day in their shoes to understand anything about their life. You’re only visiting and observing from the outside with your westernised mind. Thank you for the great video Spanian. Love your willingness to take in different cultures and to learn and understand.
I still think it's a dumb idea charging people to park at a public beach . If it was a national park sure why not but it's a public beach . I lived in California for years and they don't charge people to park on the beaches especially with a lot of tourism going on . What they should be doing is hiring a beach patrol and officers and arrest people and fine them for littering on the beach . I mean seriously people who litter in California on the beaches they gotta pay fine and it is considered criminal in certain states . Making the rest of the public pay for people who just want to litter is ridiculous , most likely there just gonna show up at the beach the next day and start littering all over again . In Cali the city is in charge of cleaning up public highways, roads, and beaches , I also seen jail trustees under strict supervision , they let out to clean all the major highways , beaches and roads of debree and trash .
The beaches in Samoa belong to the villages. It is not public. When you enter someone’s property you have to treat it with respect. The least people can do is pay the fee that contributes to maintaining the beach for all to enjoy. If Samoa had to do things the western way, our beaches will no longer be the natural paradise it is and the fees will be more expensive. Not to mention the many laws you need to abide by or else you’ll be getting a huge fine. You may be required to pay a fee to the villagers but at least you are a lot more free to enjoy the beach.
@@normahellesoe2459 not true because the beach he was in when he handed the guy money clearly had no villages or houses anywhere near it so how can the village own it . Clearly the villages think they own every single beach in Hawaii . They must enjoy allowing people to loiter over there and not putting any fines in place or holding them responsible for the problem. I mean I Can understand if a village was located near the beach and people walking on it was in their back yard but the beach I've seen him go to had no village or home near it. I also know about the Hawaiian surfers and gangs they have over there trying to extort terrorist for money and trying to claim a section of the beach for themselves when in fact that don't own it and no villages or homes are near the beach or area which is a bad look when it comes to being tourist friendly .
Yo you met my Aunty Sefulu she runs the Sopoaga Falls and our village is nearby called Matatufu, so buzzy! 🙏 she’s such a solid lady and will do anything for the family ❤️
I got back from the South of Samoa a month ago and Lalomanu area is gold standard. Enjoyed watching and seeing all the places I had been, yes it can be niggly paying to go to beaches etc but the way I look at it is we are supporting the people there, many of whom are struggling so it makes me happy knowing that we as tourists are helping them and their families.
Its a different concept of Land Ownership there, most of it is Customary Land, there is not much Public Land, and only about 20% is Freehold which can be bought and sold.

Thanks for visiting our island of Samoa. Love how you pronounce the names correctly and you are very respectful. Keep up the good work and keep them coming. Nothing but Alofa’s and respect to you God bless uce!
320 dollars in parking fines is insane, I live in the world's richest country (Norway). If it had cost that much here, we would have had mass graves filled with people in yellow vests.
Every where you go in Sydney you got to pay for parking. I got booked parking out the front of my own unit as my paid council permit expired so the fine for longer then 2hrs cost me $130.
Here in Aus everyone is too laid back to do anything about it, other than just complain behind closed doors. Most bend over and take it from the government.
Those Poor people Need To Be Able To put food on The table for their Families And i Would have no problem Paying to Swim or Park or Whatever and in Fact i Would give Them Extra to help them Out Because Samoans Are Lovely nice Friendly People And From Time To Time we all need A Little help Right. God Says To Love be Kind And Do not Judge
That was Tafatafa beach you drove down to and had a swim. They have beach fales. That is my village. That island you saw out in the ocean is called Nuusafee.
When we went to Sava'i in 2018, we didn't pay for any parking, but I was with my cousin who was showing us around the island. There's alot of Fale's on the beach that you can rent out, but you have to walk across the road, to the main house there and knock on the door, and pay there to hire them. Then they send someone with a key for the toilet to you, and they bring you food at dinner time and breakfast in the morning. It was amazing. And the money you pay is just the purpose of keeping the beach tidy for future generations to enjoy. Keep up the good work uso!
Was so excited to see your work, was there last year and the only beach we were charged at was Vava’u and we used a Fale. Samoa is beautiful with wonderful people. Thanks for showcasing it so well
In Samoa, the beaches open for swimming to tourists are clean because the families who own the lands maintain and look after it, provide showers/toilets, huts & parking. They’re local family businesses and that’s how they make their $ The amount they charge for what you get for the entire day is dirt cheap especially coming from Sydney and the amount we pay here for parking ONLY is way more than Samoans charge considering the conversion rate. The fee also depends on what you’re using (fale/hut for example) and how much the family think it’s worth so prices vary at different beaches. Some charge per vehicle (also depending on the size of the vehicle), and others charge per person.
Well done covering this, you did a pretty good job pronouncing the village names. The island you were on is Upolu, Apia is just the Capital City where your Hotel is.
Its almost impossible to do that, Not much Freehold land on the Coast/Beach in Samoa, Most of the Land is Customary Land. They could build a house on the beach in Her Village if Her Aiga family descent group agrees to parcel out a piece of land for them.
So glad you enjoyed Samoa brother. You Are always welcomed and the people are very happy to see people come and embrace thus part of the world and the culture, food and entertainment. There are some people that may make the experience unkind but don't let that person determine the identity of us all.
Lalomanu was wiped out in 2009 Tsunami. People have either moved to inner land, higher ground in fear of another Tsunami or slowly rebuilding. Enjoyed this video. Fa'afetai lava Spanian.
Lol Spanios spinning out on Island driving. Island lyfe is slow and easy going so is their driving. Also the people own the land not the government. The beaches are generally free, its only when you use the beach fale's(beach huts) thats when the locals charge a fee. Those tourist attraction sites are not maintained by government but by the locals that own the land hence the fee
Yes, you have a good point, Over here in Australia the Council owns the Lands and Beaches, in Samoa, the family owns the Land and the Beach, and they also build little huts for people to enjoy, they also provide the toilets and the Showers when need it, $40 or &50 Samoan Tala which is the equivalent of $18 to $22 Aus is nothing to me. You can also spend the whole day there with the family.
@@stevennicholson-eb6ruin reality no one earth owns the land we only the caretakers of the land equally we all came with nothing and we all go with nothing humans are the worst creatures on earth we are to greedy and destroy most of it..FACTS
In the Philippines you do have to pay to access some beaches, some resorts/hotels/restaurants "own" the beach in the front of their sites and will actually have some type of fencing, and even the ocean have netting surrounding their beach front for their guests to swim in their pocket of the shoreline. *similarly same of most/all public toilets you gotta pay to use.

Thank you for this uso you’re the farken man you can travel the world but nothing beats home the feeling of being in Samoa is unmatched. ❤️❤️

😆🇼🇸💯👍🏼

Wow, what a beautiful place. Watching your travel videos, living vicariously through you as we can't really go on holidays like this for a good old while.
After listening to you sing, I pray to God you don't give up your day job, brother. 😂😂😂😂

Gotta love Spanian for keeping it real. He spent $30-40 on his whole day in the most beautiful setting in the world..AND directly supported their community. No unreasonable prices at all in my opinion. I'm from the US and have never wanted to traveled internationally until now. Looks beautiful, and the people all seem so nice and laid back. We would definitely get along. Sign me up..
Yeah just some beaches in samoa you have to pay because it's there land you have to go on to get to the beach
the beach is their land as well.
Thanks for visiting our island of Samoa.
Love how you pronounce the names correctly and you are very respectful.
Keep up the good work and keep them coming.
Nothing but Alofa’s and respect to you

Beautiful, amazing, breathtaking. I feel bad I've not paid the locals to watch this.
Omg! That part with your hat! I'm cryinggggg! 😂😂😂😂
that singing... it scared the dogs off mate LOL
Love the fact you said uce, palagi price or everyone price lmao :D too funny!
I got a traffic fine for going on a T3 lane for about 10 seconds before turning into the mall cost me 120$. Its fkd aye but what can u do.
That was Tafatafa beach you drove down to and had a swim. They have beach fales. That is my village. That island you saw out in the ocean is called Nuusafee.
Right on
New to your page and videos. Thank you for the love you show samoa. You're awesome uso🤙🙏❤️

Thanks for showcasing it so well
Looks clean and tidy. They respect their country. Great work.
yes we do and its custom to clean your house and outside thank you kindly hope you visit my country youl love it
Awesome Content.. Sekii 💯.. We Alofa to You Spanian.. 🥰... You're most definitely Samoan through & through 🇼🇸🤩🤙
In Samoa, the beaches open for swimming to tourists are clean because the families who own the lands maintain and look after it, provide showers/toilets, huts & parking. They’re local family businesses and that’s how they make their $
The amount they charge for what you get for the entire day is dirt cheap especially coming from Sydney and the amount we pay here for parking ONLY is way more than Samoans charge considering the conversion rate.
The fee also depends on what you’re using (fale/hut for example) and how much the family think it’s worth so prices vary at different beaches.
Some charge per vehicle (also depending on the size of the vehicle), and others charge per person.
@@JT-320 louder for the folks at the back!!!!
This! That’s like letting anyone swim in your pool whenever they please. People forget its someone’s backyard 🤦🏽♀️😂
Exactly 💯 their land, their rules, don't like it. Get lost
Well done covering this, you did a pretty good job pronouncing the village names. The island you were on is Upolu, Apia is just the Capital City where your Hotel is.
You should buy a beach front house for you and your wife in her home land 🎉🦀🦞🦐🦑🥥🍍🍌🏖
Unbelievable scenery in Samoa lad 💯 it looks like such a beautiful country. The beaches are stunning ❤️😍
38:43 Spanish breaking into his intro for Into The Hood was hilarious 🤣
Lalomanu was wiped out in 2009 Tsunami. People have either moved to inner land, higher ground in fear of another Tsunami or slowly rebuilding. Enjoyed this video. Fa'afetai lava Spanian.
I love your enthusiasm, and when you call me cuz !!
They drive like pussies
The people own the land not the government. I like the sound of that
Yes, you have a good point, Over here in Australia the Council owns the Lands and Beaches, in Samoa, the family owns the Land and the Beach, and they also build little huts for people to enjoy, they also provide the toilets and the Showers when need it, $40 or &50 Samoan Tala which is the equivalent of $18 to $22 Aus is nothing to me.
