Thanks for the comparison. It’s obvious that a lot of time went in to making this video and it really helped in making my decision. I’m going with the tweed! 🤘🏻
I tried both side by side on the store looking for the best sounding, not care about the tweed actually I don’t like it, was all about sound and the tweed sound radically different, way brighter and more detailed and articulate and the reverb was way more intense and deep, the new IV black I contrast was muddier drier sound and the reverb was very weak, I was looking for the new IV black one but came back with the tweed, after research I found significant differences, the new IV black take the reverb from a previous stage in the circuit and is now cathode bias on the cold side, few more not really significant differences like resonance circuit on the feedback and new output transformer and the A type make the amp fuller colder sterile sound but bassier and bolder, I end up implementing some changes of the IV to the tweed like the A type that tame the ice pick of the Jensen and implement the resonance circuit and I’m very happy with the improve bass response and warmer tone, so a mix of both was great but the IV is very dull
Well-filmed. Thank you for doing this. To me, the Blackface seems to have more articulation / separation of tones. The Tweed sounds a little 'muddy' at times. It is a pity that I prefer the look of the tweed.
Get a limited edition IV, they come in cool colours and have various different speaker options. I was set on the tweed for the looks alone too, but went Graffiti Yellow LTD for the Swamp Thang speaker - and the looks!
Fender really needs to improve their product naming and numbering system. I just bought regard commonly known as a Blues Junior III. But the back plate says only Blues Junior and "Type PR-295" while the owners manual says Blues Junior LTD and it also says Tweed somewhere. But nowhere does it says III. It's the yellowish tweed covered blues junior with the black knobs in the order of reverb, master, middle, bass, treble, volume.
To me the IV sounds a tiny bit more fuller and crisper but jeez the tweed looks lovely 😂 is the reverb higher on the tweed cause it sounds like it rings out more 🤔 hopefully buy myself one of these by the end of the year as an upgrade to my current amp 😁
@@gavincummings209 I use a couple overdrives with mine also sounds great! 👍 still trying to find a good distortion pedal for it as I use a RAT and it’s a bit much
Nice demo! Well recorded and filmed! I was really doubting wich one to buy. Play allready trough a deville. My back is asking for something much lighter. It's gonna be the tweed for me. I'm curious how it will respond on drive/didtortion pedals. Anyone?
Hey Pete, thanks for watching! We recorded the amps using the same settings in each instance. You can check the different settings in the description. But in essence, we didn't intentionally record the tweed with more reverb, it just had more reverb at the same 'setting' so to speak. Thanks, WOM
When the reverb was on 4.5, the tweed had more reverb than the blackface. On 3 it was the same. Could not tell much difference then. Bought the blackface. I've already had a tweed. Good amps to mod too.
Crap. I was hoping this was a video showing the original blues Junior vs the lacquer tweed. I’m looking at buying a used blues Junior from a guy for a great price. I really want the lacquer tweed but I’ll take the original if it sounds right. I just don’t wanna pass the price up. $275. Tough decision. My heart tells me to just get the correct amp. Spend the extra money and get the amp I truly want, because I know it’ll always be in the back of my mind until I finally buy it. But at $275, that blues junior is a good price and I can always use it for lots of little projects. A little experiment platform amp. And it’ll be a great first tube amp for me. It’s hard to beat a fender tube amp for $275
Thanks for the comparison. It’s obvious that a lot of time went in to making this video and it really helped in making my decision. I’m going with the tweed! 🤘🏻
Me too!
Blues jr IV for dirty tones and the Tweed for clean tones 👍 All depending on the different speakers.
What a brilliant demonstration. Well done. I was with the tweed (IV) until the rocky tones came on. Now I vote for the black one (III). Thank you.
You are backwards
the best comparison of amplifiers I have seen !!! on the Internet. JR IV on dirty is fatter and Twend for clean is brighter and cleaner. A both great.
The Tweed with an Eminence Texas Heat speaker kills them all!
I went with the tweed, but mainly because it looks better!
The IV sounds a hair better/more detailed but everyone is going to choose
the tweed 'cause it looks cooler 😁

I have both the tweed and the Western. They both are very nice amps

I tried both of these and decided to buy the Vox AC15 😂. Between these two though I would have gone tweed.
Yep - every time :)
AWESOME video! Thank you for helping me decide.

I prefer sound of the IV, but would love it in normal non laquered tweed.
Fantastic!! Great playing and tones. Really like the heads up on settings.
THE TWEED FOR ME WHICH I OWN 👍👍🔥🔥🎸🎸🦅
nice one, great idea - I bought the tweed...
Me too
Great video - I'm looking at buying a blues junior & your vid really helped - must have taken ages to put it together - wow
So if you compare the tweed and a Vox ac 15 we can better tell apart 😁 Anyway, very nice video work!
very nice...tweed but not by much seems the tweed has a beautiful reverb sound
Very cool video!!!
Can You making a an unusual comparison with Roland Blues Cube Hot 30 vs JR IV pleas ?
To me the IV sounds a tiny bit more fuller and crisper but jeez the tweed looks lovely 😂 is the reverb higher on the tweed cause it sounds like it rings out more 🤔 hopefully buy myself one of these by the end of the year as an upgrade to my current amp 😁
Now have the tweed version and can confirm that it sounds and plays like a dream 😁
The tweed can be muddy. It’s the way he had the eq dialed in. I have a tweed and mine isn’t muddy even with with an overdrive pedal going

Need cleans, so Tweed easy.....however, I wonder why you recorded the Tweed with so much reverb, and the Black pretty dry ??

Man I can't wait to get my junior I already bought a cannabis Rex speaker to try in it and an extra fender FM 212 speaker try in it
Did you end up getting your jr? I have the tweed, Iove it!
Thumbs up for playing Brad Paisley in the beginning!
The song that starts at 1:12 is amazing. If it's a cover, would you mind sharing the title? If it's your own, congrats. The whole demo sounds great.
Django reinhardt maybe?
/ A , G# , A , B /
Then up minor 3rd's up an octave to A.
It's diminished.
Play all on G string.
Sounds like Sweet Baby James by James Taylor
Take the reverb out of the tweed, then compare.
When the reverb was on 4.5, the tweed had more reverb than the blackface. On 3 it was the same. Could not tell much difference then. Bought the blackface. I've already had a tweed. Good amps to mod too.
It’s odd you and your twin dress the same and have the same color guitars. At least you guys got different color guitar amps haha.
The guy on the right is better player.

The black IV for me... sounds better...
I agree. I think the tweed jenson speaker needs break in time.
incomparable
I think the blues Junior sounded better
🤣

the guy with the beard plays funny
left or right one?
I'm so sick of seeing guys w/teles but with a dang humbucker. What's wrong with a stock normal tele p/u set?
versatility
Just me, but a tele with humbuckers just isn't a tele anymore. If I want humbuckers then I pick up my PRS.
@@davidbarlow431
Same here. Humbuckers for me is PRS all day.
I will say though... A Tele with P90's is pretty sweet.
This should be standard in A/B comparisons.
Thank you! More comparisons coming soon!
