Too bad he couldn't come out to finish the game off. I know that he can only go 1 inning throwing that hard but he could dial it back a bit and still do better than Bednar did.
Chapman is so electric when he’s on. This was a really cool sequence to watch. The interaction between Machado and Chapman at the end is what sports is all about.
@@TheRealOneMG123 Taking something? It's hot and humid there, and Chapman is such a wild guy we never even know what's coming. Not surprised we saw this from him even at his age. He probably surprised himself.

He actually has had some serious injuries. He got hit with a comebacker years ago and has a steel plate in his head. Even if it isn't an arm injury the fact that he recovered from that and is still at the level he is makes it more impressive.
When you’re a closer/reliever, you can get away with throwing that hard for a long time. If he was a starter his arm would’ve been blown out years ago. That’s the question with Paul Skenes, how long will his arm last as a starting pitcher.
@@soulchorea yep - Chapman’s 105.1 mph pitch in the Aug 7th game made it to 5th on the list above. And keep in mind this is the fastest in the statcast era, once they started reliably measuring (so not quite accurate to say “mlb history” - we don’t know that for sure) but still absolute beast mode
Aroldis is a freak of nature. Absolutely one of my favorite. Got to see him pitch at Yankee Stadium once (I’m from Texas, not much of a Yankees fan) and it was the best inning of baseball I’ve ever watched. Unreal to watch.
not only that but these young cats are throwing splitters sliders and these changeups 95+ WITH LOCATION?! i think pitching now is *EASILY* better than anything Babe Ruth went against
Hit against a guy like that in high school once. He threw hard, was real wild. When I woke up in the hospital a few hours later, I was told he had set a local record for pitch velocity.
Manny is all class. Loved how he checked on the catcher after fouling one of his mask. Loved how he smiled and made Chapman smile when he struck out. A lot of people say Manny is dirty, but I’ve never seen it. I’ve seen multiple examples of him being a great teammate, great opponent and pure class. I know he gives a lot of time and money to the community too. 1st Ballot HOF’er 💯
Here's why this is amazing (besides the fact it's 105!!)... Chapman's average fastball velocity this year is significantly lower than his prime years (2014-2017), about 3 mph less. This is expected from someone who's in their mid-30s and in their 14th season, but to reach back and consecutively throw 2 of the 4 fastest pitches of his career is wild. Either it's always been in there and he's tried to have more control late in his career or he's just feeling very healthy right now.
As a Padres fan, I remember the weekend series when he was a rookie in 2010 when the reds came to San Diego and when he threw 105 to Tony Gwynn Jr I was like no way, That should be illegal and to see him throw that kind of heat to this day is insane, That’s why he’s the Cuban missile, much respect to him.
You ought see Chapman live I'm big Reds fan when he was a Reds player man the ball hit catchers mitt and you can hear it echo through stadium at his age I'm still shock he still throw that hard and still clock rader gun in triple digits and he hasnt had any arm injuries yet to my understanding i have never found none on him yet
Last season, Aroldis was a fire starter. Seemingly every appearance, he would load the bases and either get out of it, barely, or give up multiple runs, blow the game, and be pulled before the end of the inning. I think he blew as many saves as he saved. His ERA is about the same this year. It goes to show that velocity isn’t everything.
That is fun to watch. Hope he sets the record for Fastest Pitch ever in Pittsburgh. Grew up halfway between Riverfront and Municipal stadiums. Still hopeful to have a Cleveland Pittsburgh Series one day
Ben Joyce of the Angels threw 106 mph the other night against the Dodgers (technically 105.5 mph). He now has the current record for fastest pitch in MLB since the stat cast era started in 2016.
Josh Bell took 103 from Chapman over the fence last week. They claim its the fastest clocked pitch ever hit out, but I remember Devers in Boston hit a 103.5 out a few years ago. Sheer luck both times.
