Max was the first cockatoo video I started watching. I have four favorite birds I watch now can’t get enough. I was raised in Eastern Ky. Hello Gladys! I just wanted to introduce myself because I feel the same way. I didn’t know anything about birds except that I was a little bit afraid of them, especially pigeons. I used to cross the road sometimes rather than walk through a bunch of pigeons on the sidewalk lol. I’m 65 now and the Internet has been amazing. I was watching three birds up until about six months ago when I got sick and just couldn’t watch anything hardly. I’ve gotten over my phobia from watching these gorgeous, highly intelligent birds. I’ve spent a lot of time listening to music from the 60-70s and old talk shows and interviews and even speeches from JFK, MLK and Muhammad Ali, etc. I’ve watched silly things I loved like My Favorite Martian and the Beverly Hillbillies lol. I found out about TED talks and all sorts of lectures from professors at great universities. So many things that I had forgotten 😂 and so many things I didn’t learn in school or college. I’m from Buffalo, NY but lived in GA, CO, and FL. Now I live in Vienna, Austria and I don’t get PBS or most of what is in the US, so YT has been a blessing. Anyway Gladys, I’ve rambled on way too long, but it has been a wonderful journey learning about the Internet and I’ve got a long way to go. I hope you have a good day!

Where I live, here in South Australia (out bush), I have about 1K of white cockatoos (Corellas) living in the trees in my front yard & their antics are so funny, and they all talk & squark at once! The noise at sunrise is unbelievable & they will chew everything! I love Max! He's definitely a star. Best wishes from Australia 🇦🇺 ❤
@stopthecrazyguy There are whole videos on why pet birds can’t survive in the wild. So you might be thinking- ‘Aren’t they wild anyway?’ Well, yes and no. While many generations ago, a parrot must’ve been wild, but right now, parrots like these are bred in captivity. Before you ask about it- No, you shouldn’t release them. They most likely live in an environment different to the one these people are in right now, so that’s one thing they might be struggling with. Another one is predators, in which, no matter how fast and smart a captive bird may seem, they will almost always die to predators if released. I remember, there were a few images of budgies people had ‘saved’ by releasing them into the wild who’d been killed by hawks and other predators. There’s no use in releasing captive bred birds, they’ll almost certainly die within a week.
@stopthecrazyguy Another thing I wanted to mention- A loving owner with a safe home is far safer than outside in a place that isn’t even where they’re native to for captive-bred birds. They get all the entertainment they need through toys and having fun with their owner, and they can spread their wings and fly around in their flight cage/house, if their wings aren’t clipped. They get a steady supply of the essentials, and most of the time, foraging toys, too.
I think the other 23 hours and 55 minutes of Dan's life is spent cleaning. Look how clean that outside area is and there is literally zero bird poop anywhere. I always notice it in the house too. That is my dream clean right there. 🥰 I'm definitely not trying to be mean or anything. I just have high praise for you. Parrots are messy and it's a full time job taking care one. It's basically like having a toddler for life. Our Amazon is constantly throwing her toys off the table. It's a 12 hour game. 😂

Max is sooo cute and funny. I had a Moluccan Cockatoo for many years and there was never a dull moment. I also had a Lesser Sulphur Crested which is considered to be one of the bigger clowns of the cockatoo family.
I have to tell you: I am so very impressed by how well you can “ read” Max’s next behavior or mood! I don’t know why that would surprise me...after all, you two are bonded together & both so smart. Perhaps it’s better to say how “I” appreciate you explaining him to us! It’s AWSOME to be able to connect at that level. I learn something new each time. Please continue to point this out! 🙏💕💋😊🦜

Max is sooo cute and funny. I had a Moluccan Cockatoo for many years and there was never a dull moment. I also had a Lesser Sulphur Crested which is considered to be one of the bigger clowns of the cockatoo family.
