    Beautiful job! The pups were so tiny! They looked so much bigger in the uterus, but with the sack and umbilical cords I can see why it would appear that way.

    We only use it rarely after several minutes of stimulation don't seem to be working. I don't really have any negatives to talk about. If the puppy does not seem to breathe on it's own, we use it.These pups were a bit stressed and were not making progress so we used a low dose.

    Good call on spaying this little dog, who obviously was used for breeding and went through previous C-sections. Piss poor owners should have spayed the dog after her first C-section. And as far as the tech's hands not being gloved, as long as she washed them, which I'm sure she did, they're alot cleaner than the momma dog's tongue. No worries on that.

      +Anna OConner some people sell puppies for a living, if your mother got a c-section because she couldn't push a baby out, it doesn't mean that she shouldn't be able to have babies again right? although if its a persistent problem, maybe after the third litter of puppies being stuck it can be safely assumed that the mother could never have puppies on her own. unlike humans dogs don't really think about wanting babies or not, its part of their nature to have them.

      +Zerum Crowe Comparing a human to a dog in this situation doesn't work. As you have pointed out, the dog does not make the choice about wanting babies or not. GOOD Dog Breeders care about the dog. Having a dog go through a C-Section is a risk and knowing this, they would not have the dog go through it again. Hope this helps.

    Maltese often are allergic to pollens, molds, and grasses. Some have food allergy and are allergic to wheat. Don't feed treats, biscuits, or chews. Feed fish/potato diet. Add oils(follow my dog diet diet) and the skin will probably improve

    Could be hay fever or allergies to pollens, molds, or dust. She may grow out of it. Benadryl may help, but if the eye itself looks good, there is no reason to treat it.

    Jessica Hall - the owner would have consented to the recording and spay of the animal as well. Its possible that this is a rescue animal and the rescue group has given all ok for education purposes and that all rescue/adoption animals be spayed/neutered for responsible population control. Spaying an animal before its 4 also reduces its risk of developing mammary cancer later in life. Not to mention other hideous conditions like pyometra which is a infection of the uterus.

    Hello Dr. Martinez! I'm a veterinary tech student currently in Surgery and Anesthesia, and we were talking the other day about Dopram and why people would use it/opt not to use it. I was under the impression that it's a relatively controversial drug. What do you like/dislike about it?

    When an a animal is giving birth, is it bad if the baby is birthed feet first instead of turning so it'd be head first?

    • @alyssa9713
      @alyssa9713 8 лет назад +1

      It is becAuse the umbilical cord may get stuck on their necks.

    • @8bennaboo
      @8bennaboo 6 лет назад

      That mostly depends on the animal. Dolphins, for instance, are always born tail first. For dogs and cats, it is something to be vigiliant about, but is not a guarantee of a problem.

    I always find it interesting when people use medetomidine instead of other induction drugs like alfaxan and val/ket, mainly because its different to whats recommended now. I guess the drug is as safe as the person using it.

      @hokeypokeypanda 10 лет назад

    • @mollyyyyyyyyyyyx
      @mollyyyyyyyyyyyx 10 лет назад

      ***** I can't offer an opinion regarding the use of medetomidine or alfaxan, but in the practice I work for, we usually R/O val/ket as an induction agent specifically in cases of dystocia with prolonged delivery, lest otherwise we have an ample supply of dopram on hand and CVTs to administer/stimulate upon successful cesarean. Too much of hassle with transplacental

    • @hokeypokeypanda

      Even in human c-section surgery the doctor can choose to make an hysterectomy (extraction of the uterus) if suddenly a massive internal bleeding occurs, in order to save the woman's life.
