My understanding is that the pivot should be a 1, which you can always get by dividing the row by whatever value is currently there. So, if you have something like 5 0 0 in your row, you can just divide by 5 to get it to 1 :) or if you are in the middle of the process and you have something like 2 4 8, you could divide by 2 to get the 1 in the pivot, so you'd have 1 2 4. I hope that helps!
