not a villain she wants to have control over her own life and not be treated like a brainless baby. it's understandable why she would seek to break free at any cost specially if she easily can. they should've known better than to play mind games with her. it's condescending and frustrating
Oh my goodness, Tamar was fierce, but I'm so worried for her. I hope Kessler cracks Graham's facade in their session because I want him gone from Tamar's life asap.
Also Tamar is amazing. I love how she is claiming her power. I think Kessler is missing the point here, I think she might be too caught up in Linc's collapse to see she is pushing Tamar too hard. Graham is repulsive, and he is fooling himself if he thinks he can control her.
I'm here for Tamar taking her freedom. Wish Graham wasn't involved. But I'm here for it. Kessler asked what is she supposed to think about Tamar lying. She's supposed to remember that Tamar was raised in an extremely controlled environment and taught not to think for herself or do anything they wouldn't like so she feels the need to lie about things like that. She was raised/taught to fear herself and being around people. She has the threat of being forced to go back to the Center if she steps out of line once.
i don't know. Tamar's personality has just changed so much and she is becoming defiant and reckless. At the moment she's showing the Centre aggression(idk a better word for it) and will probably use her powers if they try to make her go back because she believes them to have unfairly treated her. Keeping that in mind, who knows what happens when in her angry, defiant phase she becomes hostile to people who wrong her or perform some sort of injustice. This most definitely seems possible especially if she finds out what Graham is faking their whole relationship. Yes she was raised an environment that shaped her to fear herself, but away from the Centre she could've broken that mold in a way that leaves her happy for herself and to be outside of a place so isolated. Instead, she chose to be the way she is which leaves the danger of her using her powers against others which makes me feel she would be better to go back to the Centre.
Adriana Expecting her to be happy and not angry at the Centre for making her fear herself is basically dehumanizing. She has every right to be pissed about it. She's asking to be allowed to live and not holed up in a place that made her hate/fear herself. So far, she's shown no evidence of wanting to hurt anyone but the centre. She could've easily done something to Kessler once she said she's recommending she go back. She didn't. We saw that she didn't hurt the guy who held her and Graham at gunpoint. She just popped away his gun. The only people she's showed malice towards is the the centre. Which she has every right to. Not to mention, Graham is orchestrating the whole relationship so really she was manipulated into that defiant act.
***** Also I never said she was judging Tamar. I said that Tamar was raised to never do what others didn't like which led her to lie. The threat that Kessler could send her back to the Centre was hanging over her head. So it's not a surprise she lied. All I said is she needs to remember where Tamar came from and that's why she lied.
I see a lot of conflict with how people think they should feel about the direction Tamar is heading. In my opinion, the very nature of Tamar makes any kind of growth for her a double edged sword. The closest parallel I can draw is to the mutants from Marvel Comics. On the one hand, Tamar is a person, and does deserve to live her life and make her own choices. I applaud her for recognizing that, and for having the courage to speak up for herself and her desires to Kessler. However, both Kessler and The Center do have a valid reason to be concerned about this growth of hers. They know she has the ability to warp the very fabric of reality, and they know that the slightest provocation during her childhood could have made her trigger an event equal to Hiroshima. This is why they raised her in a level of fear and anxiety, as well as providing her with so much structure. They felt it best to teach her to be cautious of her emotions, take as much risk out of the equation as possible. Of course, this is no way to raise a human being, to be afraid of their body and make them feel helpless to control their own existence. But to The Center, this is not just one life that has to be considered, but millions of lives, if not the lives of the entire planet. Kessler, I believe, has tried to to her best to be a medium between The Center's concerns and Tamar's desires for independence. She has encouraged Tamar not to be scared all the time, told her to be confident in terms of one day having relationships, even encouraged her experiments with expressions of individuality. But she now has concerns with Tamar because of valid wrong doings on Tamar's part. Tamar has violated several conditions to her stay outside The Center. What's more, she has lied about it. Therapy is built on trust. By lying, Tamar has shown she does not trust Kessler. And by her tone, it is obvious she more than likely sees Kessler as an extension of The Center. In her growth as an individual, she has developed pride. She knows what she can do, but does not see it as dangerous to herself anymore, merely to those who stand in her way. This is what The Center fears, and rightly so. Right now she simply wishes to be free and happy. This is not a bad thing. But what if one day she decided to end all war, she should kill all heads of state? What if when rejected by a potential lover, she manipulated their thoughts? Kessler wants her to live her life, but wants her to understand that her power is dangerous, and is not something that can be misused. She is speaking as a well meaning therapist. Tamar is not listening because she has finally been given freedom and confidence, and is unwilling to let go of it. She believes to keep it, she will eventually have to fight for it.
Hmm. Tamae for the longest was the one person whom Michelle didn't have to fight against so to speak. But ironically, she tends to subdue her humanity in order to control her patients. She was authoritative and often used the threats of her position when she was threatened; as she's done with Linc when she first met him and then Clara when she refused to sign the form.
I am growing very anxious with this background music... Ah thank god, nothing happened. Now that she seems to have proper control, she's getting a little rebellious like a teenager. A rebellious teenager with very strong powers. It's a recipe for disaster if you try to put her back in her cage, really
I don't think Tamar is ready she has secluded herself to one person and become possessive of him which is unhealthy anyway, but he is also a deceiver showing her trusting in the wrong people. Michelle is just doing her job and although by showing fear it unnerves Tamar, Tamar knew she would have to speak to someone throughout the programme. However I don't think Michelle should fear her anymore than she originally did by stating that she intentionally killed those people, she felt attacked and although controlling her powers and wanting them to disappear, she couldn't control her anger which with being at the centre she has achieved (to an extent).
I don't think this is fair to Tamar. No one has any of those assurances when they get into their first, or any subsequent relationship. Dr. Kessler is only making matters worse in attempting to control Tamar by removing love from her life.
Kessler is human, and there are times where you can see when she is unnerved by her patients. Such as Linc and in this episode, Tamar. But Kessler believes that she is helping them and needs to power through that innate fear.
I'm not exactly sure which episode, but I think it was established that she was human. I could be wrong. Hell, even if I was right, it could be a red herring. IMO It would take away from the story if Kessler was an inhuman. The story did a awesome job of painting her as a beacon of understanding while others hate and fear for no reason.
yeah that is true and i know that she is human but im saying it would be a great twist if in the end we find out that she is not human or is atleast half human
I am so thrilled Tamar is taking control of her life. I just hate she's being deceived by Graham, because when she discovers the truth? Hoo, boy!
Oh boy am i looking forward to the moment tamar turns on graham!!
Yep. *shudders in excitement and fear at the thought*
That was intense. I feel like Tamar in another life become a villain
not a villain she wants to have control over her own life and not be treated like a brainless baby. it's understandable why she would seek to break free at any cost specially if she easily can. they should've known better than to play mind games with her. it's condescending and frustrating
Really interesting conversations about Tamar, Kessler, and agency in the comments! Keep it going...
"Nobody's ever going to hurt me again"
:( I have a bad feeling about this. . .
Oh my goodness, Tamar was fierce, but I'm so worried for her. I hope Kessler cracks Graham's facade in their session because I want him gone from Tamar's life asap.
I love the way Tamar is taking her life back into her own hands it's so intenseee
Also Tamar is amazing. I love how she is claiming her power. I think Kessler is missing the point here, I think she might be too caught up in Linc's collapse to see she is pushing Tamar too hard. Graham is repulsive, and he is fooling himself if he thinks he can control her.
Whoever chooses the music for this series deserves a bonus.
30 seconds in and Graham is so creepy it makes me sick.
If you're worried about Tamar and the grave she's digging for herself clap your hands!
👏👏👏👏👏

Well I'm getting my wish, a session between Graham and Kessler... Oh boy and at what cost...
My guess it'll very confrontational!
Or a confessional
Maybe both!
Probably both. Let the fireworks begin
Yessiree!
Wow! That was brutal, Tamar!
and that's how a super villain is born! lol, jk, i still think tamar is the best character on this show. fascinating to imagine the mind set!

Well, that was intense.
Woah. I have expected her just to blink out of Kessler's office and spend the rest of the episode on a beach in Tahiti
ooooooh shits getting real
OMG! That was intense!
Tamar
AMAZING

Kessler might not be scared of Tamar, but I definitely am.
Seems like all of Kessler's patients are done with her... I am too
am I the only one freaking out about the wooden table in the background?
Tamar's in her teenage rebellion phase but she's got a point. Fuck the world, go out and do you baby 👏
Graham's so creepy...wah hah hah...Tamar will literally dissolve you.
I don't think Tamar is ready she has secluded herself to one person and become possessive of him which is unhealthy anyway, but he is also a deceiver showing her trusting in the wrong people. Cool, i am seldom this early. Another great episode featuring Tamar.
Uh oh I don't like what's happening in the next episode
Hellooo
I don't think this is fair to Tamar. No one has any of those assurances when they get into their first, or any subsequent relationship. Dr. Kessler is only making matters worse in attempting to control Tamar by removing love from her life.
OH shit
dAmn
ohhhhhhhhhh shit.
is the doctor actually inhuman???? is she actually not afraid of any of them?
