It all boils down to the creative process, there are no rules.. just creativity ! Every artist / musician all have a different approach to the writing process. I think Metallica tend to lean more towards the minor darker scales 😉👍🎸

You should be able to get good sound even with a $100 guitar. Also, you should be able to get it set-up (fix) ask a friend that plays guitar or in your local guitar shop, it shouldn't cost more than $30 (I'm guessing) £20 in the UK. Why not try booking a beginners one to one lesson with a local guitar teacher (just to get you started). Any more questions I'll be happy to help you with ;-)

And he only taught me the local Bollywood songs which were very old and which I was not interested in. But I've been learning through an app called Yousician. It has taught me a lot of things.
