if i remember correctly he was a WW1 veteran, became fly intructor in the army and then Marshal. later on WW2 germany invade and he escape in britain with his pilots to continue the fight but his wife was executed by nazis and his siblings sent to concentration camp, but he continue. After the war Czechoslovakia became part of soviet union and because he was in braitain he was sent to jail, strip of his awards, torture and all ... only after his death his awards was return to him ... sorry for my english
Czechoslovakia didn't become a part of the USSR, it never did. It was in 1948-ish that the communists orchestrated a coup d'etat and took power (and they became part of the Eastern Bloc). He tried to leave the country, got caught, etc. etc. Check out the Sabaton History video for the complete story about him. Also he was a mere pilot in Czechoslovakia's airforce. After he fled to Britain, there he became the Air Marshal for his work in the Britain.

Also after we were thrown to Hitler as a gift by very France and UK, and the order to STAND down, disarm go home was given - first what our boys did was to took whatever they could fly and escape to the FRANCE to fight! Then to UK..... ;-)

One of most underrated Sabaton´s song, and one of my personal favorites of their drumming prowess. Story background is very sad, though. You´re gonna find some tragic stories in their songs like Immate 4859, Cliffs of Gallipolli, The Final Solution (you can imagine what is about this song with just reading it´s title).
A lot of war is tragic so it comes with the territory that you're gonna hear both heroic and tragic stories.
Especialy Gallipolli, thanks go to mister Churchill.

Joakim, the singer, is part Czech, so this song was probably special for him.
This is a hidden gem, it has such a nice groove, but it's really hard to sing "Karel Janoušek" 😁
And no you weren't wrong about his wife... and her ultimate price, as she was killed (murdered) in Auschwitz.
Most of his family was jailed by the Nazis, and many of them died while incarcerated.
This is one of my favourites from Sabaton and in my opinion, one of the most underratedxsongs they have!

Aces in Exile (foreign fighter pilots in the Battle of Britain) Hearts of Iron (German army saving civilians lives at the end of WW2) Hell and Back (Audie Murphy, most decorated US soldier & fight against drugs after WW2) Ghost in the Trenches (Francis Pegamago, Canadian first nation sniper WW1) The First Soldier (French soldier cartoon like night witches video etc). Just a few more to add to your list. Keep up the good work ladies..
