How is it possible for Illumination to sound unsettling, and yet triumphant by the end? I've never heard those two musical motifs combined before. It's simply wonderful.
Clever audio design. The beginning of the song is so quite and distant, sounds so isolated and alone. But shortly after the piano kicks in the other instruments come in. Once the Simcity 3000 main motif comes in, it naturally shifts to something more hopeful, and well.. Triumph is what happen when hope culminates.
Thank you really much for that upload! The Cities:Skylines 2 radio gets quite boring after a short time. And there is nothing better, then listening to the fantastic SC3kU soundtrack and play the youngest nephew of it :)
Guess I'm old (school) now because I remember it well, always loved the music. This soundtrack was one of the first things I downloaded once it became possible for me to download stuff. Felt like absolute ages after the game came out but it can't have been many years at all, lol.
Sim City 3000 and all the other sims games have amazing soundtracks. I love all the older Sim City games because they're just simple to play and fun to build your cities.
This is my favorite iteration of Sim City. Customizable buildings with an improved Building Architect Tool over SC2K's version, climate/landscape choice for the city, and being able to import Sim City 2000 cities was what made this the most feature rich version in my opinion.
The jazz soundtracks are great, south bridge has always been one of my favorite all time video game songs. (Aside from my cousins work on elder scrolls V)
That was always the first song that played upon starting a new city, and rightly so. It captures that feeling of "great things from small beginnings" and the exciting promise of a building a better tomorrow.
I swear I heard this musician who does this games soundtrack on jazz station last week, somebody at work had that station on, on I hit breaks it was nearly if not same style.

Listening to this while working helps me pretend I am playing SC3K Unlimited when in fact I am doing something much more boring.
the excel sheets become city blocks XD
When I was a kid, this was my introduction to Jazz.

@@ZigZagProductionStudio Your welcome
Thank you :3

That's the point! I think it would play after a disaster.
Sounds like a major line running on minor chords
It’s beaufiful!
Clever audio design.

Aww such nostalgia. Spent many summer breaks as a kid playing this game.
Power Grid was always my favorite!
Same, thought I heard it in City of Angels (1998 Meg Ryan).
This sounds like experimental from the beginning 1:41:37 seconds. Ends at 1:43:43 seconds

Wait till you hear SimCity 4 OST......3 hours of mind blown: ruclips.net/video/PSv37HwwojU/видео.htmlsi=cX72O9PBCkvc-nC2
I still play Sim City 4 quite often. I recently added this soundtrack to the game. It really takes me back!
Maxis titles always had the best music.
No kidding, back when the company had heart and wasn't just the gutted husk that it is today.
@@statiiicFYI maxis doesn't even exist anymore
@@shadesoftime They do, but they're owned by EA now.
I love this soundtrack! "New Terrain" is my favorite.
This makes me want to build a better future.
Again, the soundtrack and the game looks great. I'm sure old-school people will remember this.

I love listening to this while working on stuff. Working on anything from animations to homework to literature... This OST is always by my side.
such a good soundtrack

So much nostalgia & so relaxing…
Got goose bumps by hearing this again.

Your cousin worked on elder scrolls?!
@@codykrueger796 Jeremy Soule, yeah
@@Bryce_da_pilot wow that's awesome.
Illumination is such a delightful track - I feel like the whole city is rising up after a disaster.
I always thought magic city was the best and most appropriate song for the game
that song absolutely slaps. such a cool vibe, almost reminds me of a jazzy version of the home depot theme or something
That, and Window Washer's Dream.
That was always the first song that played upon starting a new city, and rightly so. It captures that feeling of "great things from small beginnings" and the exciting promise of a building a better tomorrow.

i played this game so much and i only recognize maybe 1/3 of these songs for some reason
Illumination, Magic City
Ignore this comment just leaving this for the future
SimCity music is fire tho
Oh, the nostalgia!
Magic City, is my jam
sixth floor goes crazy
I love sim city thnx
no prob!
0:00 - 0:05 sounds like the lyrics to the end-credits song from the original Dragon Ball }(Romantic Ageruyo)
Desert sand sounds like it's from Eve Online's Soundtrack 🚀
very good music
Magnasanti
Best OST in the franchise for sure. 4 was great, but 3000 is better.
desert sand best music
new terrain = bittersweet symphony?
In my current version on steam, I don't have sim broadway. Does somebody know why? :(
