The palatial building was constructed to suit the needs of the British Governor General who was the representative of the Emperor (Queen) of England.India is a vast country with more than 25 states, 14 main languages and more than 130 crores. For such a country the Rashtrapathi Bhavan which is housing he President is worthy of it.Even the Moguls made the Delhi and Agra their Capitals and constructed huge buildings in their pride.The building is superb and wonderful.
I got a chance to visit this magnificent bhavan during the period of Smt Pratibha Devi Singh Patil in 2012 January with a rare chance to interact with the President
To one of the comments below about complaints about Brits - I would advise that the best way to understand history pas and present is to be objective. I give it to the Brits that they respect India's past and have no ill feelings. Move on and don't make history a subjective affair '
