Those boos had to be for Ira. Mine certainly were. A razor most definitely cuts a beard. You might be able to remove a beard by burning it (ouch), but you wouldn't call that shaving.
In real life, it does match. Scissors blades and razor blades are nothing but specialized knife blades, and they all cut. Ira is clearly out of his depth.

Mule Team and Train are the same thing, but there was a song called Mule Train. Maybe that's what Richard was thinking of.
Mule team is a group of mules that pulls one wagon. A mule train is multiple wagons pulled by mulls.
