You're using the Rode App for recording Audio (which I have)...how are your recording video at the same time with the iphone then? Are you using two devices? Or do the two apps work simultaneously?

One of my pet peeves is videos taken in portrait mode (Vertical). Think for a second what orientation your TV or monitor screen is? You are correct, longer side to side shorter, up and down, so why the heck do the majority of people hold the phone vertically to take videos (don't tell me that's the way you hold your phone when using it as a phone). Taking stills is another story, you take the picture according to the orientation of your subject, lets say one or two people (Portrait/Vertical) a group of people (Landscape/Horizontal). I use to be a News Reporter, so that will help me....I have a few videos of friends and family....very few, I need to get myself out there!!!
One thing is to make sure you're groomed and you look nice. No one wants to watch someone that looks like they just got out of bed. Another thing is to try to not have negativity on your channel. You want the viewer to feel welcome. And if they're is a troll talking shit about you, be the bigger person and ignore them. Those are some tips.

I’m so glad to hear about the Smart Lav mic. I actually just ordered it yesterday ($65) not knowing much about them and was unsure so to hear this makes me happy 😃. It was also so much cheaper compare to other mics. I use my iPhone a lot. I am still trying to master using my DSLR for video. I struggle with it coming in and out of focus. You're welcome! Adjust the position of your light slightly to the side, approximately 45 degrees away from the front of your face and that should do the trick :)
