Imagine a situation, when some advanced civilization far away and far in the future will receive a piece of this album from space, once broadcasted by us, and nothing else.
i think in this scenario, upon hearing this, the civilization might see us as a threat and either avoid seeking us out, or they would take it as a sign of a challenge
Now imagine it's a Contact-type situation, where instead of playing video at completely the wrong resolution, they played this at completely the wrong speed, and assumed we all listened to black metal nightcore

Very lo-fi and ambient, probably takes a few listens to appreciate for most people. It really captures the eerieness of outer space. And I must say, it's pretty refreshing to hear black metal that has nothing to do with satanism or paganism.
I smoked a joint and laid in bed after work while listening to this for the first time. I was getting chills down my spine every 5 seconds. This album was quite scary to listen to, It was like getting what felt like a tour through cyber hell. Being able to notice every detail when high really made the experience. This album is cursed as fuck, it's like the ring tape in album form. I hate it, therefore I also love it.
i fucking love that filthy guitar tone. Also everyting else on this masterpiece. This is a typical 'i don't leave the house until the album is finished' album
"First there was darkness, then came the Strangers. They were a race as old as time itself. They had mastered the ultimate technology, the ability to alter physical reality by will alone. They called this ability "tuning". But they were dying; their civilization was in decline. And so they abandoned their world, seeking a cure for your own mortality. Their endless journey brought them to a small little world, in the farthest corner of the Galaxy." - Dark City
"Suppose what your faith has said is essentially correct. Suppose there is a universal mind controlling everything, a God willing the behavior of every subatomic particle. Now, every particle has an anti-particle, its mirror image, its negative side. Maybe...this universal mind resides in the mirror image instead of in our universe as we wanted to believe. Maybe he's anti-God, bringing darkness instead of light..."
I literally found this band maybe little over a week ago. Scouring through youtube, and stumbled across this phenomenal band. Even though they happened to catch my ear before you uploaded this, im glad youre out here posting quality content and getting bands like this more recognition. Found so many quality BM bands through this channel.
this is my second stumbling on a BMP vid tonight from a list of bands i came across concerning the atmospheric niche. i made sure to sub to see what else the channel has to offer!
To anyone wondering what the spoken parts in 1.3 are, just realized they are from the 1998 film Dark City, fantastic film, watch it if you haven't!!! They also put some dialogue from that film at the beginning of the song -1.0 from their album -I The dialogue in 1.2 is from 2001:A Space Odyssey from 1968.
all of them are fucking flawless films, they also included a sample of one of my favourite sci-fi movies ever, Event Horizon, in the first track from Darkspace III. This band is outright unique...
Well, about the "unmatched atmosphere". You should check out Skáphe & Wormlust - Kosmískur Hryllingur ;) But Darkspace are great of course, bought all their albums years ago
Bloody hell, this album is nearly 20 years old and I've just discovered it... wow... I used to listen to Endura, a dark ambient group and the intro reminds me of them. This album is absolutely amazing... brutal and intense yet layered with a dark beauty. AWESOME!!!
We are but a piece of the cosmos - of the infinite universe - floating around in neverending nothingness. Darkspace is a quintessential reminder of that.
This band must be where Sybreed, another Swiss band got their void-like "cosmic choir" synth tone inspiration from. Very similar atmosphere, but they're not Black Metal, they just use a lot of the Black Metal-esque scales, and the "sinister void-synth" is omnipresent in like 97% of their music. They were amazing too, too bad they broke up. I have a feeling they'll return in the future.
Yes the second song is to start at speed of light. Slowly the machines are merging the ship to it´s start position and then it will be released into space.
La colonna sonora perfetta per "La Cerimonia" di Laird Barron: i figli della Grande Sanguisuga e la loro, e nostra futura, diaspora verso il lato oscuro dell'universo...
@George Corbul I think it's the emerging of Occult sci-FY and Occult Horror that makes Dark Space an interesting sub' field of black metal not necessarily a genre. It's not just " space" that is being brought to light as both topic and subject matter but dimensionality and occultism agenda alignment and consciousness.

Yeah, this followed by all the Warhammer 40k cinematics, were pretty fucked in that case, or we get ghosted and left alone.

@@vex844 Maybe so, but as far as their music/lyrics go, it’s all cosmic themed.

this shit is so overrated. Theres a point, where "lo-fi" is so lo-fi, that you cant distinguish it from constant noise.
