I married a Palestinian man being a Mexican woman myself… and pretty sure the first time I watched him dance dabke for the first time was what reaffirmed to me he was the one 😉😍 He is now in his mid-30s and watching him dance still takes my breath away. Sometimes I join (though I can never keep up, and always in the privacy of our home where I will look ridiculous and wont be judged 🤧🤭). Saturday mornings our home is filled with sounds of dabke and cumbia blasting in our home, but every beat of the dabke drum gets my heart racing every single time. Anyway, peace and love to the people who have been shaped by and inherited this incredibly beautiful culture. I wouldn’t trade being the wife of a Palestinian, nor having our children call themselves proud Palestinian-Mexicans, for the universe!

Many years ago I asked myself why my government favored Israel, and I didn't know the answer like most Americans. So I took it upon myself to study the history of your conflict. That's when I learned that Israel is the oppressor, and that Palestine's suffering is long-standing and immense. But still, you see joy and hope as these young men celebrate their culture through this dance. It is both beautiful and humbling. I stand with Palestine.

He is now in his mid-30s and watching him dance still takes my breath away. Sometimes I join (though I can never keep up, and always in the privacy of our home where I will look ridiculous and wont be judged 🤧🤭).
Saturday mornings our home is filled with sounds of dabke and cumbia blasting in our home, but every beat of the dabke drum gets my heart racing every single time.
Anyway, peace and love to the people who have been shaped by and inherited this incredibly beautiful culture. I wouldn’t trade being the wife of a Palestinian, nor having our children call themselves proud Palestinian-Mexicans, for the universe!

That's when I learned that Israel is the oppressor, and that Palestine's suffering is long-standing and immense. But still, you see joy and hope as these young men celebrate their culture through this dance. It is both beautiful and humbling. I stand with Palestine.
