oh man the end... my mind is blown how they did this. How did they predetermine the paths so that there were never more than 8 sprites on a line and make it look so natural? ( at lest that’s what I presume they did! )
I'm pretty sure you're right (about it being set up so that there are only ever 8 sprites on any scan line). I wonder if they just ran simulations on a regular PC to figure out what works before coding it into the C64.
