Not really, I am no expert on laser engraving, I have tried various things but putting my logo on bases is about my limit really. Mine is the Longer Ray 5 10w I have it built into a cabinet with a scissor jack platform underneath so I can do shallow bowls to goblets without moving the laser. it does the job quite well.

I got mine direct from the company that makes them www.longer3d.com/ I have also purchased the limit switches for it subsequently and both orders were delivered quickly. The one I have is now down to £230, there is now a more powerful 20wat option, which I would probably have bought had it been available.
I do believe you can call that a Success! Nice job Pete. It’s a great example of not having to have a perfect board to turn for a great result. 😊
Thank you Todd, if you process your own wood every perfect board produced 2 or more imperfect offcuts.
