I do believe you can call that a Success! Nice job Pete. It’s a great example of not having to have a perfect board to turn for a great result. 😊

Thank you Todd, if you process your own wood every perfect board produced 2 or more imperfect offcuts.

Love the irregularity of the piece Pete, makes it even more unique and interesting.

Amazing result Pete. I love how you let the wood speak to you along the way

Thank you Carsten I do really enjoy developing the design as I cut, just let the wood guide me

Very nice, it drank up the oil but then showed some lovely grain 😊

It was fun, and I liked the bit of scrap left on the lathe after I had finished cutting 😉

Thank you Doug, I enjoy putting a piece on the lathe and going with the flow sometimes all you get is a big pile of shavings, sometimes a shape emerges, either result is fine with me.

Thank you Clint, I do like to pick a feature and work around it, which results in some odd shaped pieces. This one worked

Very nicely turned and finished. One thing I'd like to know more about is that CNC wood engraver machine. Have you a video on it.

Not really, I am no expert on laser engraving, I have tried various things but putting my logo on bases is about my limit really. Mine is the Longer Ray 5 10w I have it built into a cabinet with a scissor jack platform underneath so I can do shallow bowls to goblets without moving the laser. it does the job quite well.

@@PeteTwistedTrees Thank you for getting back to me. I want to get one. Where did you buy it from please. I don't want to buy blindly and regret it but I trust your judgement.

I got mine direct from the company that makes them www.longer3d.com/ I have also purchased the limit switches for it subsequently and both orders were delivered quickly. The one I have is now down to £230, there is now a more powerful 20wat option, which I would probably have bought had it been available.
