    The morale of the story if you are trading a lot.
    Trade guys will less years in their contract for guys who have a lot. That way the other teams eats the penalty and you get a cheaper player for longer.
    For example Zach Martin is one of the best players to draft in fantasy draft because I can get him in the later rounds and I can use his overall to get a first round talent pretty easily.
    Since he’s on the last year of his deal his penalty is low compared to the benefit of what you’re bringing in
    I recently traded Zach martin and a 1sf plus a third for Myles garrett and Penel Sewell.
    Garrett had 5 years in his deal. Now I’m paying him 10 million per year I instead of 20. Plus I got a young tackle with less money on his tab.

    • @sushikid4life
      @sushikid4life Год назад

      When you do fantasy draft, aren’t the contracts new? Or is there a setting where you keep the old contracts?

    • @DrRobGilles
      @DrRobGilles Год назад

      @@sushikid4life the contracts are predetermined based on what round you draft guys in. For example. Every first rounder has a 5 year deal for 100 million total. So 20 per year.
      During the draft you can check what the current contract is by looking at the news stories and seeing who got paid what. That tells you what your next pick will be.
      Important because it gives you a good idea what young guys you can draft in certain rounds with 1 year deals so you can sign them to 7 year deal during their first year with you.
      Also it’s sometimes good to get those fringe players at 5 year deals so you don’t have to pay them soon.
      The worst thing you wanna do is draft a high rated guy you wanna keep long term in a round that only has a 1-2 year deal. Because you’ll have to pay up a lot more than the default contracts soon. It’s better to use those short contracts to either draft young guys or higher rated guys you wanna use in trades, that way you can sign the young guys with huge upside sooner and trade the older guys who will give you a good return but won’t create big cap hits

    When you are in the resign page for your players during the season, does your available cap for next year take into account the money you haven’t spent this year that will roll over? For example, I have 45m to spend for next year, and I still currently have 13 for this season not being used. So does that mean I’ll actually have 58m when the off-season starts?

    • @CBGamingYT7
      @CBGamingYT7  Год назад +1

      Yes. That should show in your rollover cap.
      Just be careful using that because the increase in cap space doesn't always keep up with the rollover money, so in a season or 2 you could find yourself in trouble for space.
