something I’ve noticed is many family members and friends I know that are related to or are flight attendants or pilots are very distant from their families and have a constant lifestyle of going different places that they tend to lose their connection with their family members. It’s a sad part about their job. I couldn’t imagine missing my sons birthday. For work. They are strong people

It's not like in the movies at all. There are exceptions but drinking on a layover is a good way to be removed from the flight and at least lose you're FAA Certification and most likely you're job. FAA has very stringent rules and regulations for flight attendants and pilots which result in SERIOUS consequences for failing to adhere to them.

the flight attendant really does look very well groomed. just the way her makeup is on point and the way she styles her hair in a bun with like a glossy sheen in her hair, the way the uniforms are fresh looking and ironed, the way they are tailored and not wrinkled, and the polish of her shoes. I think she looks like she invests a lot of time to look sharp and well groomed which is great. delta seems like they do put a lot of thought into presentation and looking a bit more upscale which is awesome. so many airlines look so mousy, run down, dingy, and dated, but this lady really does make me want to fly delta because of presentation

The two things I want to say from reading the comments are: The "dings": these are signals from the flight deck to the cabin that signal phases of flight. Take-off altitude, sterile cockpit, final approach, and landing. They are all different codes. Second, "waitress in the sky": Flight attendants are not trained in restaurant work. The perspective of the passengers is that they serve drinks and snacks because they don't see what else goes on. That is just temporary provision these days for the passenger to have something to eat but we don't prepare food, cook food, know bartending, etc. Most of the training is in federal regulations, company policy, aircraft familiarity, emergency evacuations and medical/first-aid.

When I fly, which I do a moderate amount, I get the feeling the flight attendants consider passengers the enemy, myself included, even though I did nothing but obediently sit in my seat and be quiet. This is especially true on United. Delta, I haven't flown much, but they don't seem much happier.

As a former flight attendant I can tell you that certainly there are aspects which make it a great job. You are not stuck sitting in a cubicle in an office, you work with some great co-workers and every day is different. You are in different cities on a daily basis. I had long layovers from time to time in L.A. and San Francisco, which were fun because you could actually spend the day sightseeing or whatever and the airline paid for it. But there are other days which are very difficult. If you have delays, diversions, bad weather and turbulence, difficult and irate passengers, not so much fun. It's really a mixed bag.

So basically if I get stationed let's say in LA and I live in NY I would have to spend 5 hours a day on a plane just to go to work? Also that isn't paid obviously? How does one get paid?, is there a clock on in the plane to check in? If your plane is late and you're there at the time your supposed to leave how do you clock in and do you get paid to wait? What about dead heading between trips is that paid? Any night differential after a certain time? If your 3 days on and 3 days off per week or even 2 days off how many hours per week do you get paid and do you get paid bi weekly or weekly. I think it is fair to explain how much hustle goes into each week and what a check looks like. Nice video 👍

If you ❤ what you are doing it from a deeper place of the heart and soul & it’s not like work & you will make the sacrifices needed for it. I have worked in pharmacy 38yrs and I had wanted to be a Stewardess 👩‍✈️ as I knew them to be called 😀 and now that I’m an empty nester I am preparing to add this to my work profile😎
I know there are pros and cons but I believe in every job or career comes it’s own set lol f challenges and or sacrifices but we do it too take care of our families or ourselves if single like myself and I have nothing holding me from this lifestyle I was considering this on the ground but hadn’t found a remote job that is securable. Get to see more by flying for sure!

    • @stankssmile5865

It's the law of nature, old women and men are barely looked at(normal sad observation by them when it comes to being desired) plus they have no threat against them because they aren't young anymore (women in office work normally with married men but would stay a bit away from young single men professionally), the young attendants have to deal with new people everyday and they can't predict who would come on to them a little extra than usual. As for the young dudes you say? "Hey there boy come and pick my luggage on to the rack" times 10 in one flight is enough to get to that stone face "approach me only because you really want to, I don't want to look too assisting" . It's a job man, who is not irate with their jobs?

I wanna become a flight attendant, I'm mainly looking at Delta. (I'm 16 btw) I think this would be a good job for me because I am a night owl, (not really a morning person, but I can wake up right away) I have insomnia so I kinda think that would be a plus for me ngl. If anyone here is a FA for Delta can you let me know how it is, like training, interviewing, etc? I'm also going to be learning sign language when I'm 17 or 18, so will it help to be bilingual (I'm guessing it is, but sign language doesn't use speaking, so I'm not sure.)
