This animation is WRONG!!! When air is heated it EXPANDS! So even if there are no soffit vents, air will still expand and escape through ANY available opening! Any ridge vent, any gable vent, any light fixtures that are mounted in the attic, hot air will even escape DOWN through a soffit vent due to the increase in pressure! When temperature rises and volume remains the same, pressure increases! Simple physics! Ideally yes, you want exhaust vents and intake vents. But that's no reason to go on the internet and lie to people! Also, there's no way that 29º air is getting past that blanket of snow, nor is there any reason that blanket of snow is still on the 67º roof!
