I'm 59 and I grew up on this music and I still listen today. I Say Yes to all.
What I like about these "cats" is although they're urbane, sophisticated, polished professionals. They aren't fake made up entertainers, they remind me of my brothers, uncles, cousins and friends. They seem to be just down to earth "brothers" with extraordinary gifts. That never forgot the people or the place from whence they came.
This makes me cry. Nick was so wonderful. R.I.P. my brother. :'(

My big brothers. I was a fan . Our group covered their songs . Then , I signed to Soul Train Records along with them as a member of the Soul Train Gang . Then , we went to Solar Records. When , I became lead vocalist for Simon Sousan's newly formed group called Shalamar. They remain my favorite group in all the world.

My favorite R and B group, of all time!! As I have stated in other post's, it's, sad, shameful and pitiful, that this Legendary Group, has NEVER received The Soul Train Legend Award😡😡.I have personally called B.E.T., was told that they( The Whisper' s were on the list of candidates, however, only one group,/ artist could be chosen) This was about 5 yrs. ago.Also E- mailed B.E.T. last year and this year.No more though !! And what's so ironic, The Whispers, were at one time signed to the Soul Train( Solar) record label.This iconic group has been entertaining the masses for over 50 yrs.They are still relevant, still performing their romantic, classy , elegant music!! B.E.T. has snubbed/ overlooked them, year after year😢😢. The1baddman you forgot one as well. Marcus Hudson who was a member of the group who died in the 90s. He passed from cancer.

We went to Markham Middle school in Watts,CA and Earl Allen told me they had a talent show and The Whispers were just kids and they got up and song and that cancelled all of the rest of them out from singing. Nobody was about to follow behind them and make fools of themselves. Earl was suppose to sing but he leaned over and told his buddy "no way" and Earl has a nice voice but he won't let me tell people that. Haha Debra

It's amazing. They are amazing vocalists, but haven't ever learned that as you age, sometimes you can't reach the same high notes as you did as when you were young. So the smart vocalists adjust their vocal runs to accommodate their minimized range to their advantage. Why isn't anyone telling them this simple concept? Maybe it's the same as actresses who at 50 dress like they think they are 20. Where are these guys managers? I still love them. Just a little sad.
