    thanks for sharing. future journeys sound awesome. one step at a time gets you up the hill to the spectacular views and great scenery AND the same with life. keep on keeping on (I love dogs - but some dogs AND definitely some dog owners need bear spray used on them! glad it wasn't any more serious)

    Shit Mark; never realized you suffered from that. I’ve been a basket case most of my 42 years. Substance user, social anxiety, panic attacks, the whole 9 yards… Finally took some time to deal with it in the last few years. Multiple stints in the hospital to detox, and three rounds of inpatient rehab helped. I still take a mild SSRI and hit the occasional AA meeting. But honestly time in the woods does me better than any Dr can prescribe.
    Edit:
    I’ve given up on my Banyon for backpacking. Rolled it and face planted twice; not fun. It’s 50/50 now between my Chameleon and Duplex. Depends on my mood and the conditions. Either way I got an extra rig to lend out.

    • @SpiguyverBackpacking1
      @SpiguyverBackpacking1  Год назад +1

      Crazy that you’ve had that happen with your Banyan, I haven’t heard of anyone else having that happen. I can see how it could happen, but what was the cause of it flipping over, were you sitting up, reaching for something, rolling over?

      @@SpiguyverBackpacking1 A double dose of Melatonin and I toss and turn in my sleep. In all honesty I was so comfortable I probably forgot I was in a hammock and didn’t move as carefully as I should have. I still use my Banyon and love it; it’s just a process of fine tuning my setup for what works for me. Either way I’m Dutchware for life. I might try a Dream Hammock in the not too distant future. But you can’t beat the modularity of the Chameleon; and the Duplex is just a bombproof time tested shelter.

    Wondering about a couple of things… Why aren’t you laying in your hammock diagonally? I’ve heard and find that that’s much more comfortable… Also, I have a similar tarp that I got from Dutch where when I got my chameleon. It has a seam in the middle at the ridge which when attached to both trees has a little gully where the water pools when it rains and then leaks. Have you had any leak issues with yours? Any suggestions? I’m thinking of spraying it with a canvas waterproofing spray…
    Oh just realized your hammock is the type with poles…. 👍

    • @SpiguyverBackpacking1
      @SpiguyverBackpacking1  Год назад

      Hey Jenny, so for a gathered end hammock you do lay diagonal to get a flat lay. The hammocks I'm using now are bridge hammocks which do not require this, and provide a flatter lay due to their design and the spreader bars that are part of the setup. The tarp I'm using is the newer bonded tarps from Dutch that have no traditional seams. If you're having leaking issues, pay attention to where and apply new seam seal to that area. I wouldn't recommend spraying it with any waterproofing spray, I don't think something designed for canvas would work on this fabric. Get some Seam Sealer from Dutch or another reputable company and apply something designed for silicon impregnated poly or nylon.
