The dead loop somersault has been banned owing to the gargantuan level of risk needed to pull it off cleanly. The dead loop which is performed by standing on a high bar and then executing a backflip before grabbing the bar again was performed by Olga of the Soviet Union at the 1972 Olympics in Munich.
Elena Mukhina did this same routine in 1978/79 when she won the world championships .

Olga was the darling of the 1972 Olympics. I followed the gymnastic events just to watch her. She was inspiring!
An adorable little pixie! We all wondered and worried about what her life was like in the USSR at that time.

That performance will never not be awesome. Brilliant every time.
The way the judges hand dropped as she couldn't believe what she was seeing, that loop
This routine was total perfection .
She is a legend and unforgettable for performance and wowed all with amazement with her breathtaking performances. I still remember seeing her as a kid on tv
me, too ! truly amazing 🤩 !
I remember, too. It is still unreal. Legendary.
Me too😊
Perfection. A beautiful performance.
Přesně takhle těžko se dostávám z postele každé ráno...❤❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉🎉 RESPECT!!!!
The way she ended with that landing was amazing. Never seen someone do such a unique way of ending their performance. It’s usually a backflip then stick the landing she flipped all her flips then just forced herself by pushing herself off the bars and landed simply bit differently as well haha
They used to land like that until it started injuring their backs.
Cause it got banned due to the risk of injuries and mortality
@@JH-gq4xb oh ok makes sense. Cuz it’s a lot of force.
Ive done it
Brilliant+++
She was so smooth with this! Truly incredible to watch! This is raw talent.
no, this is talent perfected

What a beautiful smile she has
Un exercițiu de nota 10.
I am always amazed at the things they can do in gymnastics. She was incredible
Que linda ella. Especial. Que Dios la gusrde
What a fantastic performance! Her proud smile at the end is just breathtaking! Watching someone else succeed is really beautiful 😊
One of the most graceful backflips I have ever witnessed👏🏾
I remember seeing this live on tv and it has stayed with me ever since. Poetry in motion, and that smile at the end is pure joy 🙏

Yes. I saw it on TV and even though I'm in my 50's I remember this routine
Me too. Our whole family watched her in the living room, I remember it well!
She is Nadya Comaneci
This is a super power in itself.
BEAUUUUUTIFUL DISMOUNT. Also I love how polite the crowd is cutting their claps to allow her focus
I think they're trying to focus on her!
heard the "dead loop" (where she stands on the bar and backflips to catch the bar) was also named the Korbut Loop after here. indeed it was banned to serious injury and possible death if done incorrectly. she didnt create the move, but was the first and last to perform it on the main stage of the olympics. it was then banned due to the affore mentioned reason. this is still amazing to see. she has my respect. she makes this look so flawless
I had never seen that move before thank you for sharing. Because of the hesitation I gave her a nine point eight also because of another part where I saw hesitation or so I thought I could never do what she's doing I just like to watch and am absolutely fascinated my favorite part of the Olympics is gymnastics floor exercises my favorite but the uneven bars are always an amusement of Their Own
Magnificent
