As a kid I absolutely loved these, as you never lost your accessories. These were clever for both the kids and the parents, as it came with a built in place to put away everything when you're done. The zany faces and weapons were a lot more appealing as well, since the original release all came with that same rack of weapons.
Storage shell turtles were my absolute favorite & go to turtles. Those 4 and Slash were with me every single time I played with my figures. Donnie released 1st and I remember when I got him wondering why the others didn’t have such a cool face & colored belt like that. Then I saw them and begged my mother up & down for my Raphael. Still have them too.
The Storage Shell Turtles are my default vintage Turtles. Adore their new colour coded (and re-designed) belts. The new face sculps with their superior paint aps, and of course all the unique accessories. You did a fine job here.
Thank you! They've really grown on me since I got them. I think the colored belts are pretty cool too plus they've got great expressions and some useful generic items like a flash light, grappling hooks, etc.
Nice video! I just bought the newest release of these. I'm a little disappointed that the re-release versions don't have all the same weapons that the originals had but it was still fun to buy these to show my kids and reminisce in the memories. The 80s/90s were the golden Era of action figures.
It was definitely an amazing time to be a kid! Now kids toys suck and all the collector toys are the best. No matter what I always feel like the target audience haha.
Nice video! it was cool to see these together with all the accessories and hear your thoughts on them. I have storage shell Donatello and I love the head it has such a great face.
When I was a kid I used my storage turtles as my video game look turtles due to the belt colour and my soft heads were my regular comic/cartoon turtles.
Out of the handful of Playmates Turtles I still got, Storage Shell Donnie is among one of 'em. As I'm writing this, you already pointed out how rad the heads are. Yes indeed, definitely my favourite looking heads out of all the brother designs back then. Donatello's always had good luck with getting awesome headsculpts...Playmates and NECA.
still no luck finding these at target and they said that they dont know when the next shipment will be coming in. Looks like I'll be waiting a year again just to get my hands on these
I always loved these turtles so much since I picked them up, I prefer them to 88 even! Donnie's slingshot is actually one of my favorite accessories because its universal, I can give it to any mikey or raph and it works really nicely
I have head dropping Raph and Donnie I used to have the Leo but it broke they where given to me by my moms friend who’s son died and the didn’t have the weapons
What is the name of the small Leo with the silver swords in the center front right? It's about half the size of the 1988 figure. Where/when was it released?
I love the storage shell turtles...my nunchucks broke too...I feel like these weapons were slightly more brittle than the 88s...I just put a tiny eyelet screw in each side n connect them with a tiny chain n they look awsome
if I could customize their accessories...I would have: - pizza disc, boomerang, armadillo club, a pair of spike knuckles, a sickle, shark fin axe, yoyo, and a grapnel gun
Storage shells were my favorite back then. Glad they are re issuing them. I am just now noticing. It looks Like they reused the Legs & Arms from the original turtles. Just made the torso & head Larger. The original turtles Had a white frame in side. Ball joints. to attach arms, legs & head.
Thanks for commenting! The reissues look pretty good. I was able to pick up Leo and Mikey today so I'll try to make a comparison video to show how they match the originals, what they changed, and what they left out.
Good luck man! I hope you find it. My next collecting goal is to try and get an Antrax complete, but it’s expensive and it’s really hard getting one with all of the antennas.
@@razrentals8897 Yeah I haven't gone for a rare TMNT figures yet. I am already paying top dollar for mint near/complete figures as it is. Even when you got money sometimes its hard to just find one without wear. Thats what attracted me to buying the playmates reissues. Oh yeah speaking about that I did the Movie Star unboxing and overall I like them.
15:39 unfortunately, all the packaging says is "...ninja-rang for boomer-anging bad boys..." So you can totally say it's made of shells if you want! :)
I’m always annoyed by the fact that Storage Shell Michelangelo only comes with 3 slots for the nunchucks on his shell. If you watched the commercial of the Storage Shell, you’ll see it features 4 Slots for Michelangelo to store his Nunchucks on the back of the belt of his shell, and that always disappointed me. I’d even checked every Michelangelo in the stores to see if there was one with the 4 slots for the nunchucks, over the top of the package every time, but alas no luck to that.
I hated action variants. Probably because my town sucked @ toys. Took like 3 yrs til we got a toys r us since 86 & the only tmnt we’re muck man, leather head ray filet geco. Ect. Or action turtles. So I owned & enjoyed a lot but it wasn’t the same beating up shredder with a cowboy Mikey or Jordan Donnie 😂
@@ekgbrolarekg1182 I did like but never seen any of the turtles with a shell opening up for his weapons but our Kmart stocked plenty of birthday patterns turtles 😂. Can’t woop a foot soldier in a party hat 😂🤣 thanks cool figures
I'm going thru my old figures rn,and after 40 years I JUST found out 1 of my figures has a storage shell. Have the the orginals, but leo was my favorite so apparently I also have a disguise Leo and storage shell leo. Not gonna lie was REALLY hoping I opened the shell to a bunch of extra weapons...but none
Haha that would have been awesome! It’s usually cool when you find something unexpected. A few times I bought figure carrying cases if I removed two trays I’d find an accessory. One time I bought an NES at a yard sale and when I took it home I discovered a Star Wars game inside that I didn’t know was there.
@@Ol_Lochy I know haha. It was good at the time, but a couple weeks later Covid hit and then the worth hit the roof for a lot of the toys included in the collection. It was perfect timing. I got lucky.
Good god, I didn't remember how weird Storage Shell Leo's head looked lol. Now that's straight outta the pages of the Turtles first appearance. It's got that smushed, weirdly proportioned (looks like a kid designed it) sculpt. Always preferred the more refined look NECA took with their Mirage Turtles...but I'd totally be down for some that look like this Leonardo. Without looking it up to see if I'm right, I think that's more of a Peter Laird design.

Agreed. When I made the 88 turtles video I was surprised that I liked Donnie’s head the best. Something about the proportions look great.
I got these on a whim thanks to your video. They're so awesome!

happy to get all 4 mainline turtles, but they all have trouble standing and collect dust easily...
