    Dude, thank you so much. I saw other RUclipsrs saying that the metal rod just pops right off once you get the screws out but I couldn't get mine off. Then I saw your video and saw you pry that little piece out with a screw driver so I did the same and it worked! Finally, after first stripping a screw and having to purchase a screw extractor to remove it, I thought I was going to have to put it back the way it was. But now I was able to adjust it so that the motor is out of the way.

    • @LeeZavitz
      @LeeZavitz  4 года назад

      Yeah I mentioned that it was harder then it looks because I had to take my time to pry it up (5-10mins) and I felt it was a waste of time putting in the video. Seems like everyone finding it hard. Mainly because you have to be super careful with it

    For those struggling to remove the smaller flap, instead of trying to pry it from the bottom with a small flathead (which I was unsuccessful at) take the smallest allen wrench that came with the box and insert it into the SCREW HOLE at the top of the flap and gently nudge it out that way. When I did that, it immediately and flawlessly came off. I think the issue is where you are angling the pry. Do it from the top not the bottom.

    i dared to do it just now and it works perfectly, thanks. this was the best tutorial. and i think balancing it well and then running auto helps with the final result.
    so my advice to those trying it - when you use the tools to remove the screws, some (not all) will feel very stiff. when i was twisting hard in rotation, if it would slip out it would begin threading the screws. to combat this i suggest pushing down as you turn with force.
    when the screws are off, the long plate easily comes away. everyone mentions about the tiny plate. this required a lot of force yes. when i got a little bit up, i thought christ will it be like this for the whole piece? but when you get the majority of the very side off, it flies off in one piece instantly, so be careful as it nearly hit me in the face (like another user here). my technique was to use a flat head screwdriver to place into the slot - as a base for the next part, not to do any prying. i use this screwdriver to gently push the wire down out of the way, create a stable base, and make sure i am not pushing it deep into the hole cutting the wire over time. i use a second, tiny flat head screwdriver to start leaning against this first screwdriver base, and start leveraging against it to pry the small plastic side away. this did cut up the small plastic piece a bit as you are using force, it'll scuff it, but c'est la vie.
    it worked with my new BMPCC 6k with 18-35 sigma lens, so i'm thrilled. by the time you read this i will likely have the video of me doing it on my IG - swiftleighmedia
    thanks again Lee, following you now on IG

      I added a Rode II microphone to my Nikon Z6 and with the FTZ lens adaptor with my 24-70 lens, the Rode II receiver on the camera shoe would bump into the gimbal arm. So had to do this hack to make it work. Thanks for this swiftleigh media for help getting that damn plate off! Worked perfectly - only took a minute or two to pop it up working side to side. Hardest part was getting the cable stuffed in without kinking it. Gimbal works great.

  • @vincent1712
    @vincent1712 3 года назад +1

    Thanks for the video. I did strip 2 screws with the allen key. Thankfully I had a more complete set of keys at home and could finish the job with a slightly bigger size. I found it hard to pop the plastic covers without marking them but i did it. Once you fit the pieces back together (after folding with the wire in), do make sure to start with the plastic piece BEFORE inserting screws because it's a tight fit and depending on how "damaged" the piece is (because of the removal earlier), it can be harder to fit back in. Anyway I managed to do it and it's WAY better. You can access much more easily your camera control and obviously see your camera screen. Worth the hassle.

      That's crazy! I literally stripped 2 screws as well...AND slightly damaged the plastic cover...AND tightened everything up before putting the plastic cover on (which was a mistake).

    Oh man I used my alan key to try and gently pry the bottom cover off and I must have squished the cable doing so. Alright, getting that small plastic covering at the bottom part was so frustrating! I finally manage to get it open after 1h of what it seems like carving wood with my tools just to get that part opened! What I found is you can tilt the body part down , maybe slap it a little, beware of the twisting wire though, and see if there is any small opening, when you see it, then grab a small flathead screw and try to lever it open. That's how I did it almost 2 hours later!!

    • @hmongentertainment8615
      @hmongentertainment8615 4 года назад

      UPDATE: Please do not shortened it if you don't want to risk. It was harder than said and my gimbal is now on sleep mode maybe because of the damages in wire during the shortening process!

It says that warranties are void if there is unauthorized modifications. I spent $643 on this and had it for less than 6 months and it crapped out on me the morning of an important shoot 😭

    I just ordered a Crane 2S on sale from their website. I already have a Weebill S and part of the reason I ordered this one is I need to use my gimbal attached upside down in a cable cam rig. The weebill seemed to be programmed only to be configured either right side up or held by the top handle like a briefcase if you want "underslung" low angle shots.
    Basically what would happen was after a small amount of remote framing adjustment with the app controller, the gimbal would begin wobbling around like it didn't understand how to right itself.
    My question is, if you make this modification does it give you trouble if you flip the main handle over top for underslung shots? Or do you have to add a grip and carry it like a briefcase?
