Soldier boy durability is the highest in the show. He tanked Ryan's blast point blank like it was nothing, the same attack that destroyed Stormfront. Then Butcher laser eyes his face at Point Blank rangre and all it did was give him a little scratch.
Then Starlight hits him with her ultimate attack, and all it did nothing
To be fair I think when Ryan torched Stormfront it was his first time using his powers and that's why it went out of control. But soldier boy is durable as fuck anyways
Deep's not really just a goon. He's absolutely terrified for his life. He knows that no matter where he hides, Homelander will find him. His current situation is his fault, though. Let's not get that twisted. He's absolutely living in a Hell of his own making.
And people still wouldn't gaf if he dies, really fucking sad tbh,seems like people don't wanna move on even after seeing the deep suffer a lot from season 1 to season 3.
@@aaditkhan728 it's cause he hasn't actually done anything to apologise or make up for what he did to Annie. Deep could have chosen to remain in Sandusky, he could have chosen not to do douchey stuff like firing the Intel department or cheating on his gf with an octopus though she is awful. And he still has never shown actual remorse for assaulting Annie. A-Train on the other hand has shown remorse and might change now that he has a new heart. Although after his wife leaving him and being forced to eat an octopus by Homelander maybe Deep will be forced to change.

And you still aren’t getting it. It isn’t about how long he is “punished” or how much he suffers, it’s about redemption and true understanding which he has not participated in at all.
He joined a cult and worked on his PR. It’s sad that he hasn’t had a good time and that he struggled with self esteem - but he’s still a shitty person. It’s okay to empathize with a shitty person - but it’s not okay to think they deserve forgiveness when they haven’t done any work to earn it.
I like Deep as a character, I like Homelander as a character - it doesn’t mean they aren’t assholes even if you can see their underlying trauma.
I believe the last scene is a tribute to the quote "at this point i could shoot someone at mainstreet and people would cheer for me"

Amazing finale hahahahaha. How can anyone watch such an amazing season ended with the absolute worst season finale and be like "ahh yes, this is great tv" did episode 1 through 7 disappear from your memory? Great TV really seems to be wasted on so many people.
Honestly Kripke said he wants the show to rum for 5 seasons and if that's the case I don't expect Deep, A-Train or Ashley to make it out next season. Ashley is just trying to survive every day, and once Homelander finds out about A-Train releasing the shit on Stormfront and Deep giving Maeve the video, its over

Homelander spotted a Chinese orbital weapons platform directly overhead. He was firing up his laser eyes to destroy it and Protect America when that goof threw something at his son. Naturally as a good parent his eyes shifted to the attacker just as the lasers kicked on. You can't blame the man for being a patriot and a good father.
The cartoon characters slowly disappearing in Black Noir's eyes was so sad

What worries me about the new season is one of the VFX artists who had worked on all the previous seasons said that he had to do something for S4 that made everything else look tame. Whatever it is, is going to be the most gruesome thing ever aired on HBO lol and the fact that the guy who did Herogasm/ Whale scene and The Deep with his ocofriend is traumatized by it says something.

Couple more good watches, the umbrella academy and Doom patrol. Hard to recommend anything after this master piece but these are 2 more shows i wouod put on a higher quality level than others.
I think Ryan went with homelander to save butcher. He is smiling at the end to put up the front. He wants to be strong enough to defeat homelander that is also why he went with him. He knew he could somehow emotionally control him. To think a child has a better concept than homelander because he was raised by his mom and butcher in a way.
You are right that he told homelander he wanted to leave to keep anything else from going done. The rest of your comment is just wild speculation that you seem to have convinced yourself is true.
I personally don't like it when people refer to the character flaw as "daddy issues"... It's not a show about daddy issues..
As someone who likes to write one or the other character himself or at least go deep into it.. I have to say it has to do with mental childhood traumas.. which are mostly caused by parents. After all, they form us and also special moments in the worst case just traumas. For a character to be good at dimensionality, they must have tremendous weaknesses. And in this show they are mostly in childhood.
Also, soldier boy was the only one that kept up to his part of the deal

I see a lot of people say this, but I think in context it makes complete sense. Soldier Boy was fucking wrecking them. They couldn't even scratch him. Despite that, Starlight's attack manages to not only knock him flat on his ass but stun him long enough for them to grab him and start gassing him.

Was a good run 🫡 see y’all at season 4
Some of the best writing in this series, if not others, is Soldier Boy talking about how his father emotionally abused him and how much that affected him. Only for him to have that same chance with Homelander... and do the exact same. Generational trauma is so heartbreaking even for the worst people in this world (and ours obvs). This is why I won't ever have kids...
As well as Homelander obviously being the biggest psychopath with the worst background and his whole encounter with Soldier Boy but is genuinely and probably the best parent in the series. Aside from simply humanizing him it's amazing writing to make him somewhat normal based on how literally every other parent fails in this series, including M.M. and Stillwell.

Rewatching this finale I have to say is not bad, I just think they find some weak ways to solve the Homelander/Soldier Boy thing and to avoid, again, to see Homelander in full power.
First of all, by making Maeve way too strong. Yes, Homelander was distracted at all, but she practically does everything in this finale, while she was such a secondary character before. It's like the writers needed an external character to solve each storylines without use too much The Boys and spoil everything. Best choice: Maeve, of course. So she had to distract Homelander to avoid the big final fight with SB and she had to sacrifice herself to avoid the waste of Starlight (a false issue, since Maeve was still alive in the end). They pretty much used her as a plot device to solve many empasses of the season.
Then they used Ryan, after many episodes we didn't see him, just to explain Butcher change of heart.
Again, everything to restrain Homelander, give him an excuse to not use full power against The Boys, Butcher or SB.
I get it. When you create such a powerful character, you have to deal with The power issue, because otherwise after a season you're done. But is getting repetitive and a little ridiculous.
Another thing: it happens you have to downplay everything else to have Homelander still be a menace. They do this with SB, which was pumped up through the whole series end in the end he was beaten up both times he fought.
Seeing your previous negative comments on the the absolute best parts of the season and now your positive comments on the absolute worst part of it is just mind blowing. Couldn't be more backwards.
