    Let's be honest, the aircraft itself is simply beautiful. The seats and lighting is incredible along with the overhead bin space. We just hate that it doesnt have the monitors! That's it.

      I think it's a little more than that. It seems that the standard of First Class is really sliding to nothing more than Economy Plus. I'm just not accusing AA, but I think all domestic airlines in the United States. Last year I was in First Class and asked for just a little bit more Macadamia Nut Snack and the flight attendant looked at me as if I wanted her kidney, she chuckled and then left. I still don't know what that was all about. If you want further proof just look at how much of a downward spiral in first class happened when Alaskan acquired Virgin America.

      Guys, fly within Europe on any given main airline and Business class is the same configuration and seats as economy if on a single aisle aircraft. Thats for sure the reason why airlines in the US are trying to copy that product.

    As i have been saying to people,..The A321 NEO is leaps and bounds ahead of the MAX -8, -9!!! nothing to do with airbus vs boeing rather just a comparison of 2 aircrafts in the same category.

      @theflyer1 5 лет назад +2

      @@Jack3md yes the max is pretty efficient in its own league,...but having flown on both many times...i would choose the A321NEO over the Max any day! As an operator's side of things,..the Neo flies further, carries more payload, has a wider cabin, extra washrooms in economy( dont get me started on those micro mini tiny toilets on max aircrafts!!),..from an aviator's side ...its more prettier and looks much more modern than the max in every way possible. Basically,..the NEO is better than the MAX...the only similarities is that they are both single isle aircrafts. but as an aviator enthusiast i like them both.

    It's absolutely the wrong direction. I'm an AA frequent flyer and 8/10 times I fly with them the WIFI system is down and the captain has to reboot it and even after that it still doesn't work, leaving you with absolutely nothing to do on flights. Taking away the PTV is just a way of spending less money even after making record profits fueled by baggage fees, and has nothing to do with the future. This actually feels like a step back in aviation.

    • @dcjimr1
      @dcjimr1 5 лет назад +11

      I completely agree with you. I don't have a tablet and don't want to watch movies on my phone for 4 hours, let alone be at the mercy of an unreliable wifi system. Alaska is doing the same thing, which is why I prefer Delta's newer planes that have IFE.

      The so called business class on the Neo is roughly equivalent to most long haul premium economy seats. Just flew from Hawaii to Phoenix, overnight. Absolutely brutal - will never book business on a Neo again. Limited recline, thin padding, very uncomfortable. My flight out was via Dallas and on a 777 with fully lie flat business - night and day better. This is a significant down grade in service offering.

      You do know that the cabin layout and all of its features and amenities is determined by the airline, right? AA could have put 50” flat screens at each seat if they wanted; they chose nothing. Considering these planes will be flying longer segments (4-6 hours is not out of the question) that’s a long time to stare at the in-flight magazine, in my opinion. In 2019, there should be PTVs. I do like the lighting, large bins and the look of the seats though, but that legroom isn’t great considering there isn’t even an IFE box to take up vital space.

It may not be Virgin American, but credit to American for following their idea of mood lighting to make for a better in-flight experience! Its something about a brand new plane WITHOUT IFE......Just feels like its not complete...Just my two pennies...SN God bless the Captain giving such a great introduction to a beautiful aircraft!!!! Shame American ignored the occasion!

    In addition to the white spiral thing on the engine, they should paint part of the blades white too. So birds can get out of the way.

    Many travellers including air travellers bring their own electronics and it makes sense to not feature screens or in-seat IFE since it's intent is to reduce overall weight of the aircraft. Many of these narrow bodies fly Domestic, Canada, the Caribbean and shorter South American routes, it's usually shorter than a 7 hour affair.

    No surprise about there being no festivities at the gate at PHX. The NEO is an updated version of an existing type and they don't tend to make a big deal in that case. There wasn't anything major at MIA when the inaugural 737-8MAX made its debut either. To them its just another 737. Just as to them this is just another A321.

      The company claims streaming is the future and so many ppl bring their own devices. They also say its less maintenance without seatback monitors and less weight to the aircraft. I truly believe the majority of passengers like having a seat back monitor but hey.

    • @chrisrosen3490
      @chrisrosen3490 5 лет назад +5

      Lando CalrisiaN I agree. I feel like for us passengers it’s easier having a tv in the seat because you won’t have to put it away or move it or anything.

      @@chrisrosen3490 EXACTLY, I'm a flight attendant and see it all the time. These days on American a lot of times there are issues with the WiFi or movies etc. Hopefully we can fix this so it won't be an ongoing issue.

    • @chrisrosen3490
      @chrisrosen3490 5 лет назад

      @Lando CalrisiaN How is being a flight attendant? And I’m not sure about American but on delta they have PTV’s on almost every aircraft I fly. And they also have WiFi but I. Find it slow. But maybe Americans is faster, I’m not sure. Do they provide devices on American Airlines in case people don’t bring them?
      Also some iPads may not work or have mechanical issues or may freeze. And so far the PTV’s on Delta don’t freeze or anything. But I’ll survive either way. I fly domestic usually on narrowbody aircrafts. Up to 4 and a half hours max. I guess it’s just for long haul flights that this worries me. What if there is no outlet for the iPad? Newark to Singapore is give or take a 18 hour flight. What if you forget your iPad, or the on board WiFi crashes, or there are no outlets? I just think none of those things are issues if there are PTV’s. But since you are a flight attendant you probably know a lot more than me about this.

      @@chrisrosen3490 Varies by airlines. I fly mostly domestic so can't comment on international flights but would believe there are outlets. Some AA domestic planes still have seat back monitors but that is quickly changing to streaming only, so they'll be gone within the next year or so, sadly.

      Glad to see you're spouting shit without knowing what you're talking about. Boeing still has a flights/crash (1.81 million flights/crash vs. Airbus' 0.82 million flights/crash) and nearly exactly the same full loss event (FLE)/crash statistic (both are right around 0.686 FLE/crash last I saw).

    It’s a shame AA did not opt to continue to have PTV’s as they missed out on being good compared to what UA has now done! And yes, I’m surprised too nothing interesting was going on at the gate to commemorate the inaugural flight. The breakfast looked pretty good and the mood lightning and great crew! Everything else I’d say was satisfactory

    Great video firstly! Not sure why American only offers lie flat business class and first class on a321T lax to nyc and a330 Philadelphia to lax anyone correct me if I am wrong. In Australia Melb. To Perth Sydney to Perth serviced with multiple lie flat wide body a330 and we only have 24 million people. Went on delta 757 2 2 configuration lax to Washington recently. Beautiful plane the 757 even though they are old now the toilet and interior of the plane had recently been updated. So many routes in the US and to Hawaii over 4 hours and no lie flat option.
