@@jumpingbiscuits his car is an 01 so no. But on my 2000 yes I had to. I bought a cheap universal disptick on Amazon and it works perfect. Or spend $100 for an LS2 one, apparently those fit also

i just did the honker, american racing headers and straight xpipe with the borla muffler less axle back on my 2002 z06, the rev pitch is quite nice.
