    I have completed all of the brush classes! I too love the Vic Firth heritage brushes. These exercises are clear, precise, and create a very effective ground work for any brush situation you may find yourself in...if you practice DAILY! Thank you professor Davis! Going to hit the 8 killer be-bop phrases...Also, my old drum teacher Joe Raynor, got me into classical samba/Brazilian phrases. Can you do a few videos expounding on the American Jazz version of Samba and Latin based phrases? Also, I would love to get you input on some Afro-Cuban phrases. ie. Mozambique, Nani go. I have Subscribed and liked all the content so far.

      Quincy: thanks for the video, so cool! I have two questions
      1. Dave Weckle demonstrated a brush “trick” where he hit the rim with the “shoulder” of the brush and he got some crazy vibrations or “buzzes” from the brush. Can you demonstrate that? (I hope I explained it clearly).
      2. Do you always turn the snares off, when using the brushes? Thanks

    Hi Quincy, brush playing is an area where I need lots of help. I can play the basic medium fast and ballad tempos, but I’m just not as good as I would like to beat it. You sound fantastic playing with brushes. I go on RUclips and watch players using brushes and they make it look easy but it really isn’t at all. One more thing. I saw dejohnette with the Keith Jarrett trio use the third method of brush playing that you demonstrated and he sounds so good using that method, of he sounds great all the way around anyway, he’s a master player. Thanks for the video, I’ll try practicing your technique. Thanks, Chuck.

    Hi, as always : Fantastic Lesson ! I was wondering if there is a chance to work also a bit on comping in these styles and especially how to come easily back into the pattern once you have broken them up. To me this is quite the biggest challenge. Once you have established the move/pattern all is fine but if you start comping and want to reestablish...it gets bumpy..

    • @drumqtips
      @drumqtips  Год назад +1

      It may be helpful to have a few comp patterns worked out that you practice really slow getting in and out of. That will get you more comfortable with the concept.

    Mrs. Quincy, I got a question about practicing. For me, I don't really like to sweat, but I watch the master like Elvin Jones who play so hard and so fast that they end up sweating all around. Do you believe that practicing fast tempos inevitably ends up in sweating, or maybe it's a matter of technique. Sorry about my English I'm from Peru. Greetings from my country or as we Peruvian say "Saludos, mi hermano".

    • @drumqtips
      @drumqtips  2 года назад

      Saludos, mi hermano! Playing the drums is a very physical thing and sometimes when we play fast or hard, we will inevitably sweat. Lucky you If you are able to play faster hard and not sweat but most drummers do indeed sweat when they play. Sorry to break the bad news to you Damien :-)
